Indianapolis--Murat Centre What's the deal with presales for the Indianapolis gig at the Murat? NPGMC says they go onsale tomorrow at 10 a.m., but Ticketmaster still doesn't have the show listed.
BTW, if anyone is looking for a place to get dinner before the show, try Bazbeaux Pizza. It's about two blocks from the Murat, down Massachusetts Avenue (the diagonal street running southwest from the Murat). Ticketmaster now has the concert listed:
https://ticketing.ticketm...de=EMT0311 and NPGMC has posted the password for presales. Good luck to all! Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

My guess on the location of the afterparty, if any:
Lotus 235 S. Meridian St. http://www.lotusindy.com It's Indy's new "hot" dance club, and from what I'm told, the most upscale. If one of Prince's people asked a local source about a good club to rent out, Lotus would probably be mentioned. Lotus, like all alcohol-serving clubs in Indiana, is 21+ to enter. When they opened, their dress code prohibited jeans and athletic shoes, but I've heard that they've eased up on this. This is strictly a guess--I have no "inside" information. OTOH, if Prince wants to do an aftershow, I'd recommend the Slippery Noodle Inn (http://www.slipperynoodleinn.com), which is a few blocks south on the same street. It's Indiana's oldest bar (opened 1850), and it has two rooms set up for live music. They usually have live blues seven nights a week. Okay, I got my tickets ordered. I wasn't able to pull up anything better than sixth row when I logged on at 10 a.m. sharp (and most seats I pulled were significantly further back), and in the end, I decided to save $$$ and buy some "cheap seats" at $50 each.
The drop-down menu offers "pit seating" at $50 per ticket. Normally an orchestra pit is in front of everything else--but why would they sell $50 seats in front of the $100 seats? (Folding chairs instead of plush theatre seats? Obstructed view?) Second, the seating chart doesn't even show any pit seats in front of the main floor. Third, my confirmation says I'm in section Orch-L, row NN. The seating chart suggests that this is actually near the back of the main floor. However, ticketmaster.com did tell me that seat one in my row is reserved for wheelchair seating, and it seems to me that wheelchair seating areas are often near the stage, so I'm not sure what I have. Either I've got prime seats down front, or I'm at the back of the main floor. Either way is fine with me--it's a small venue, and I've had up-close seats (first row, third row, ninth row....) in the past. I'm wondering if ticketmaster.com is screwed up. For example, if I ask for two $50 main floor seats, I get a page offering two seats designated as "main floor" and "center section." But it also says that the seats are in section Balc-R, which, according to the seating chart, appears to be the right section of the balcony. Anyone else notice any wierdness when buying tickets today? Maybe I should call Ticketmaster tomorrow and ask what's up. If you still don't have tickets, try again. Ticketmaster.com has two tickets available: section Orch-C, row S, seats 22 TO 23. They're designated as "main floor" and "center section," which seems correct according to the seating chart (unlike my ticket information). Matt, heck yeah I notice weirdness when buying tickets today! At 10:00 I was getting an error saying I was not allowed to be at the site but I got in about 10:03...picked best available and got balcony row J. I've always thought they sold the tickets in order but it sure don't look like they did today. I went ahead got the tickets because on the seating chart in the yellow pages it says J is the first row of the balcony. Then after getting the tickets I tried again to see what I could get, this time I got row S floor. I talked to a friend that got floor row W on her first try then tried again and got row C floor so WTF? I don't see but 3 people talking about the Indy concert here on prince org and only one on amp sooooo who got all the tickets? I really don't think there is that many members in Indiana. :/ I don't know about this, it just don't seem right. | |

Okay, who sold their presale tickets to a ticket broker? Sales to the general public haven't even begun, and a local ticket broker (who shall remain nameless--no free ad for them) has a bunch of tickets listed in their online database, including four front row pit seats and six seats in the first row on the main floor. Also, they have a few blocks of four seats together (and one block of six together in the second row of the pit)--how'd they manage that, when the limit was two tickets per purchaser?
Yeah, I'm a capitalist, and I see nothing inherently wrong with scalping tickets, but it's interesting to see how this broker managed to snap up plenty of prime seats during the presale period. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

It's approximately 20 minutes since tickets went on sale to the general public, and unless there are more seats to be released later, the concert appears to have sold out. Ticketmaster.com can't even find a single ticket.
Hope those of you who wanted tickets were successful. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |
