Well, you would only be disappointed if your expectations where higher than the quality of the actual show. But I knew the in-the-round stage setup would suck and it did suck and I wasn't disappointed.

Dissapointed : NO, I'm probably going 2 at least ten shows this year. Is it perfect? No. Even though a lot of the songs are full length, he still has the edit/medley madness in full effect on some songs. I don't know if he's done a FULL LENGTH "Forever In My Life," yet. He inturrupted it with that funny "Players" rap/talk. Now don't get me wrong..it was funny, but DON'T mess up a gem like "FOrever In My Life!!!" "When Doves Cry" sounds ok, but he's using BACKING TAPES. BACKING TAPES R 4 Brittney Shears, or Usher, or whoever is the pop flavor of the day. "Doves" may not b an easy song 2 play live, but he's done it b4. "The Beautiful Ones" is almost full length, but the version on the Hit N Run Tour was better...He can't really hit the screams at the end on a nightly basis anymore, but 4 a nearly 46 year old, I can't really blame him there.
On some of the old songs, he's kinda going through the Motions, most notably "Let's Go Crazy," which should be the opener, and SHOULD be played at least SOMETHING like the album version. He does that "Go Crazy...GO GO GO GO.." chant..which is not in the song, and he's got Candy Dulfer playing SAX all over it... "Crazy" is NOT..I repeat NOOTTTTT a Saxaphone song. Now he does play excellent guitar on it, and does ok with the ending solo, but it pales in comparison 2 the record. "U Got The Look" suffers as well, on a famous bootleg rehersal session, he rips it live, Why not rip it live on this tour??? He doesn't really go anywhere on the guitar... Saxaphone is a great instrument, but having 3 of them? I just don't understand. He sometimes throws in Saxaphone parts, JUST CUZ HE HAS SO MANY ON STAGE...that's not right...use your musicians 2 compliment your songs, Don't use your songs 2 compliment your musicians. Can you imagine having 3 guitar players at a Lionel Richie concert? No...anyways... Despite my complaints, Most of the setlist is played fairly well.... "Shhh.." is so good, I can't even begin 2 complain about anything. As a matter of fact, his overall guitar playing is so good, I can pretty much say despite my nit picking....this show is WONDERFUL..don't miss it !!!!!

As a matter of fact, his overall guitar playing is so good, I can pretty much say despite my nit picking....this show is WONDERFUL..don't miss it !!!!! I will co-sign. "Musicology" is a fine opener ("Computer Blue" might be better, though!), but "Let's Go Crazy" is terribly arranged. We should be getting a full version, especially if this is it for the hits. "Baby, I'm a Star" is a bad choice altogether -- in 1984 it was a statement of purpose in the process of being fulfilled. Now it is fulfilled and it seems out of place. I would have preferred "I Would Die 4 U" if we must continue on with uptempo cuts from PR. Plus, there's that weird arrangement/breakdown with Renato playing "jazz" in between repeating the keyboard turnaround figure. It has a start-stop feel that interrupts the momentum and doesn't do the tune any justice. I don't mind a little Pro Tools help on "Doves," but again, play the fucking tune! The opening segments in general don't have the customary forward push that we normally associate with his shows. It's not until "D.M.S.R." and such that the show settles down to business. Further nitpicks: the staging is cool, but the light show is weak and a little underwhelming. I understand Prince's desire to put the focus squarely on the music, but there's a minimum level of production and theatrical effects that we've come to expect from arena shows (and him in particular) and it all feels a little undercooked on this one. He accomplished much more with much less on the ONA tour. I could take issue with the setlist, too... but nevermind. And the dancers from the crowd/general chaos onstage would be cooler if he interacted with them more. He had a "Soul Train" line going on the Act I tour, dance contests on ONA, etc. On this one he's just strutting around through the crowd and the show loses a bit of focus. It's still a dynamite show, however.

I got to see Prince live for the first time in Bakersfield. The show was great. It was a once in a lifetime experience!!! The only thing that was at certain points during the concert, Prince's voice was drowned out by the band. The sound could have been adjusted.
The BEST part of the concert was the acoustic set...BEAUTIFUL BABY!!!! ....love Little red corvette, sometimes it snows in april, the beautiful one and of course Purple rain The acoustic set let Prince voice shine loud and clear ... the acoustic set made up for the sound problem. overall, it was a great experience I can't wait to see him again. Did any of you go to the Bakersfield show? If so what are your thoughts on the matter just curious amor y paz amigos women who want to be equal to men lack ambition
