Minneapolis concerts

I am flying to Minneapolis for all three concerts and I am wondering where to stay. Should I stay in St. Paul or Minneapolis? I'd like to do some sight seeing too. Any help will be appreciated.

I am partial to Mpls as it has more nightlife. If you plan on hitting some clubs after the shows, I would recommend staying in Mpls. If you don't really plan to club after, then St Paul would be more convenient...

feel free to orgnote me if you start spotting hotels and have specfic questions about the areas...both MPLS and St Paul are spread out, so you could get a hotel in either city that'd be horribly inconvenient...

I'd definitely opt for Minneapolis as residence for your stay. With all due respect to our capital city, the streets of St. Paul can become deserted in a matter of minutes even after a big event. But there "may" be a few places to go near the Xcel center or down on 7th. Not that Mpls has it's sh** together either tho. Both towns are in desperate need of some public-friendly gathering areas.

I would for sure stay in Minneapolis if you are interested in sightseeing. There is much more to do. I would find a hotel in downtown Minneapolis, there are many and reasonable. Uptown is close and there is lots to do there too. Sure you will have to comute to the show but I think it would be better than being stuck in St. Paul. Nothing against St. Paul but as someone who lived there for 23 yrs. it lacks the vitality that Minnapolis has.

I was also wondering the same thing. Right now, we're looking at some hotels in St. paul that are really cheap... and close to the Xcel center... but, we're heading to Minneapolis to party it up.. how far of a drive is it to downtown Minneapolis from the Xcel center?

Driving it is about 15min. w/out traffic and 25min. in traffic from Downtown Minneapolis to St. Paul. Buses also run but that will take 45min to an hr.

it's only about 10-15 minutes on the highway in light traffic...

If you are planning to party post-show in Mpls, I would pick a hotel there, you don't wanna have too much fun and then have to drive way back to St. Paul....
