I feel creepy about drinkin' and whatnot before going to a P show - it'd be like drinkin' before work or before going home to visit family...some things I just need all my faculties for. stoned

i'm sure neither one of us will need it. I figure my head will be swimming by the end of Musicology anyways.

I'm not a drinker but I always see drunken fools at the concerts...It really sucks when their seats are near yours and they're screaming "Play 7-Play 7" or they don't know the correct lyrics.

Sorry, but I've suffered some sober folks who were exactly as bad.

I dont drink, i prefer the natural high, im far to hyper anyway giggle
One concert i went to this girl was being sick and shouting words i wont repeat, they had to escort her out of the building and the concert was just 30 mins into it.
Another concert i went to this girl was jackin up and the needle was sticking out her handbag and she was waving it around not caring who got hit with it shake
Why pay for something then get so drunk or high that you cant remember confuse

I had one drink at the ONA tour and two at the MUSICOLOGY tour..

I just like vodka, not nearly enough to even dull my senses a bit.....

I had several beers before and at the Tampa show. It loosens up my feet and helps me get over my dance shyness. In Jax, just one beer during the one hour wait until he started.

I wholeheartedly agree that you get more from the music sober.

I never drank or thought of drinkin'before any other P shows I went to in the past. Didn't need it, didn't think about it.
I went to the Apr. 17 Musicology tour in Cleveland, and they were selling beer. My husband and I each had a couple beers during the show (my husband went to get them, I wasn't leavin'), and we had a great time dancin with people around us. WE ALL HAD A GREAT TIME!! lol

My only problem was that I felt creepy drinkin' in front of P. We were row 3 to the right of P. Knowing how P now feels about alcohol, I was a little weirded out. I just chugged them and freed myself up to really enjoy the GREAT SHOW!!! razz

For me, no drinking, not even a diet coke! For one, I know I'll have an excellent time without it....save the "cold Crystal" for back in the room while I'm cherishing the afterglow. Two, this is a party! Concerts (I've been to 3 now) are usually a three hour or so affair, sometimes longer, depending on how delayed the starting time is. That's AFTER being seated, and not including travel time to the event. Add that all up, and if you add alcohol on top, without emptying your bladder, you'd burst! I don't wanna miss one second of my time with Prince because I need to use the facilities. Finally, I have enough respect for others not to. Again, people who drink have to pee. At the Mellon Arena concert on April 14th, I was lucky enough to trade seats with 2 girls who wanted to sit together, allowing me to have an aisle seat. This was fine with me...more room! But, the drawbacks were that they each had at least 5 or 6 beers during the concert, and climbed over me half a dozen times (no lie) to both use the restroom and grab more beer on each trip. Also,2 other "drinkers" in the crowd managed to stumble in the dark, falling into me, as they couldn't see down the aisle back to their seats, one grabbing my hair to break her fall, and the other scratched my face as he fell. I would never be as disrespectful to others who've paid for their tickets, taken time off work, and only wanted the most pleasurable experience! My 3 concert experiences have all been memorable though. I'd actually like to have a drink at one! But I choose not to. At least for my first 3!

Yes, I drink and I noticed that People were so INTO DRINKING at his shows. It was like the lines were Mad Crowded. Sorry if Prince not into it but I suppose people get into a PARTY MOOD with all the Drinking and Eating.

Oh man, when I took my mom to see Prince in Indy last month, she had some words with people who kept getting up to pee...she was all "did you buy tickets to see a show or to use the restroom???" and one girl was like, "I'm sorry miss lady, I promise I'll come right back and be still"

...I just kept my head down the whole time. redface

I have probably done some drinking at 1/2 of the shows I've been to. I like to party and Prince surely provides that! This time around, I'm seeing 3 back to back shows. My plan now is to stay sober thru the 1st 2 and indulge a bit for the final show.

Only once did I drink a few beers before a Prince show... and what a detriment it was. His music get's you buzzed/high enough and for days... years, heck a lifetime. Prince's musical creations are my drug of choice anyday. heart rose

I remember at one of the ONA shows in London, there was this middle-aged guy who didn't like Prince, and was only there because his wife liked him. He was absolutely steaming drunk and was shouting stuff at Prince all the way through the soundcheck. When it came to the gig, he somehow managed to get up on stage when they were pulling people up, and he was there with his shirt open, flab hanging out, sweating, trying to dance. One of the funniest things I've seen at a P gig.

Had several drinks with dinner (Club and Club) before the show- had a "few puffs" minutes before entering Phillips and topped it off with a couple Tylenol-3s!

Didn't drink or eat anything at the show. Had a GREAT TIME! wink

I don't drink before a Prince concert.

You know how it is, once you go, you have to keep going and WHO WANTS THAT, when at a PRINCE CONCERT???

Actually, I've never had the desire to.

LMAO lol

That reminds me of the show at the Xcel (June 2001), that was the first time I guess I have noticed people eating at concerts. It was like a carnival or sumthin. People were chowing down on nachos and pizzas.

And no, I have never drank or ate anything at a Prince concert. Too dayum excited. I might choke or sumthin. lol

I dont need to drink at his concerts. He is a natural 'INSTANT HIGH'. Too many things have happen when people drink at his shows. Sometimes they act a fool, sometimes they just embarras the hell out of themselves. Aladdin show, at the opening.....a lady yelled out soemthing to Prince, and he made a comment about her drinkin, then at the opening night staples center, that poor girl fell on stage, and again he made his comments.

My god, I wish I could've seen that.....LOL But at the show I went to this fat woman(not the typical Prince dancer) got on stage went him and danced. It was funny, but I doubt it was funnier than what you had to experience. biggrin

You're damn right I do. The key is I always have a 2 drink max when I do drink regardless of the situation.

I was at the Columbus show and I figured, what the hell, might as well get comfortable why I waited for the concert to start. Even grabbed some popcorn to put something in my stomach while I drank them. smile

Unfortunately, I did have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the concert. Too bad it wasn't during the Renato solo/interlude wink . At least I could still hear from the bathroom.
