Man! What a great show!
My first Prince concert and I was certainly in awe at the talent of not just Prince, but the incredible band that surounds him as well. Mr. Blackwell tore it up on them drums!
The show started a fashionable 30 minutes late (8pm.) and finished too soon (10:15)
We were on our feet the whole time. Sorry to the party poopers behind us who sat in the seats through the entire show and watched the video screen. Hope you enjoyed seeing me shake my thang.
Songs included Musicology, Little Red Corvette, Mr. Man, On the Couch, Cream ( in which we didn't repeat loud enough the first time so he started the verse again and gave us a second try and we sang to loud to which Prince jokingly instructed "You might wanna take it down just a little." )
We were also blessed with hearing Controversy, Sign O the Times, Let's Go Crazy, and Purple Rain just to name a few.
He brought about 10 -12 people onstage, all sorts, white black, big small, a couple males. The first girl he put the mic in front of knew the words. He should have stopped while he was ahead. The second girl embarrassed herself and just stared at the mic regrettingly.
A few minutes before they all got booted off the stage ( they were up there for way too long. It seemed like 15 or 20 minutes.) he led a young girl, maybe 6 or 7 on stage and sang with her. Of course she didn't know what to sing when he put the mic to her mouth, but she sure was a beautiful addition to the stage and now has a story she, and her parents, will get to tell over and over.
While awaiting the encore, amid screams and thunderous applause, lighters filled the arena making it look like a star filled sky.
Prince finally arrived after making us beg, and after a costume change into his red suit, and sang Purple Rain. While leaving the stage he humble shook his head and waved his hands as if to say "No, you're praising the wrong one" and pointed his fingers up signalling who deserves all the glory. God.
I'd love to hear from others who went to see how you all enjoyed the show.

wow is all i have to say...i am still deaf. my feet hurt, but it was all worth it. all the different rumors of an afterparty made my friends choose to go home, so i will be so upset if i find out tomorrow P was out somewhere...but it was the best time i have had in 4ever!!!!

Remember Fams: Shaking Boobs and Butt on stage just dont get it. U've got to know the words to songs. Anyway, glad u enjoyed the show. tmo1965 and I saw the Biloxi show and cant wait until the Bossier City show comes up.

My quick KC review. I have now seen three shows: Omaha, Ames and KC. So inevitably I will compare the three.

KC was the shortest. It started out top notch, though. Prince was rested and dancing like a MUG during the first 3-4 numbers. Lots of cool new additions to the show and new performance bits. He "froze" the band twice during MUSICOLOGY, for instance. Very cool.

Also there were some new theatrical additions. A hydrolic platform in the middle of the stage that raised and lowered him most notably. Also some "purple rain" streamer/curtain things that where white and came down for the finale. Lots of smoke machine, too. This was all new since Ames for sure.

Musically- playing-wise- this was the best show of the three. The band TORE IT UP. Maceo was a welcome return and Blackwell and Rhonda killed. DMSR was awesome and lasted forever as he directed solo after solo. They were tight and fonky and kicked major ass.

Now the bad things.

The show was SHORT SHORT SHORT. Lots of stuff missing. No NOTHING COMPARES 2 U, THE RIDE, THE ONE, QUESTION OF U, NO BEAUTIFUL ONES!! There were more things missing... it will come to me.

That's right he did NOT do TBO w/ the pearl curtain!! They lowered it for the encore and then lifted it up when he came onstage. WTF?!

And he did not do the acoustic bit for the encore. It was after Renato's solo, in the middle of the set. It was really cool as he played for a long time and did lots of songs I hadn't seen him do before acoustic like CREAM and GLAMOROUS LIFE. Even a bit of JAILHOUSE ROCK (yes by Elvis) just to mess with us. He was clearly having a blast.

So getting what is usually the "encore" in the middle of the show combined w/ the new stage elements and theatricality really whet my appetite for the new encore! I was ready to be amazed. I was very disappointed when he game out and just did PR. I couldn't believe it when he said "good night". It was sooo premature. Both the Ames and Omaha shows were much longer and there was lots of material he had not yet played.

My seats were good again. 7 rows back and behind Blackwell. Whom I met after the show!! He was just in the arena talking to some people (he must have had friends there). No one was round him so I walked up and as quickly and unobstrusively as I could got his autograph. It will go on my Prince wall w/ Bobby Z's signature (I met him last summer). I guess I'm collecting Prince's drummers' autographs!!

Thanks to all the orger's that I met. If I didn't run into you- sorry! I tried and I gave out all the CDs I had. If any of you are still interested in one org note me and we'll work something out.

Oh and super congrats to the girl in the black and white dress who sang KISS this time. She did great! It was cool to watch someone else do it and watch Prince and his reactions. That must be something like it was when it was me. I really enjoyed it and if anyone knows her tell her to orgnote me so we can swap stories!!

i was there... it was great. i've seen every tour stop in kc since the jam of the year, and this one was the best... although, i wasn't as close this time. at jam of the year, i was 2nd row center, this time i was front row, lower level (not floor). still had great seats.

Prince and the NPG tore it up in KC!!!

When we got there I found out that the Kemper Arena was nearly sold out and still selling tickets which I thought was cool...KC really turned up and showed some love! The whole place was filled to the ceiling!

Prince and the NPG came on about 8:15pm and played until about 10:15pm. And let me tell you, the really have a knack for making each city feel like they are the best city they have ever played for. Prince came out and proclaimed, "KC, this is gonna be the best night of your life!"

After that P and the NPG proceeded to HIP us 2 tha FUNK!!! It was a non'stop jam - once they wore you out with one song, here came one that you knew was gonna wear you out even more....but you KNEW you had to go ahead and dance!

I would say the highlight of the show for me is "Lets Work", "Life 'O' the Party", and "DMSR". These songs just jammed forever and even when he switched gears and you thought he was moving on, you realized 5 minutes later it was still the same jam! But if you're like me you'll be too busy dancin' your tail off to even notice!

When I walked out of the arena after the show, my legs hurt from not standing and dancing the whole time...and my neck hurts just as bad from bobbing it so much. But I loved every minute of getting myself into this sorry shape!

Great seats from NPGMC...fourth row in between the horns and behind Chance's keyboards.

Anyway, similar setlists to other citys, and he played "Adore" during his acoustic which was probably my favorite EVER performance of "Adore", televised or other I have seen. His vocals were tight! He really made it sound special tonight. No ad-libbing, just the sweet sound of perfect vocals.

How does Prince do this every night, screamin' and all? I am hoarse now by just singing along to the songs and screamin' for him and the band!

Anyway, right before he broke before the encore Prince told KC..." I told you this was gonna be the best night of your life!" He was right! Thanks so much P and the NPG!!!

and P.S. before I go....for all of ya'll that don't think Prince dances hard-core anymore, you should have seen him in KC tonight. He was butt-wiglin', spinnin', twirling and stopping at the drop of dime, and alot of fancy leg work. He did the most dancing I think I've ever seen him do live(I've been attending tours since '97). And besides that he did it all in these cool white shoes with silver glittery high heels(they were awesome)
Well anyway, everybody waiting to see Musicology...get excited. It IS all that!!!
