Hey Prince-fans!!

Is anybody else out there amazed at the number of people who remain seated at shows, and refuse to get up and dance? Do these people have will-power or what? I mean, how can you simply sit still through the funk-fest that is a Prince show?

I've been to three shows. For my first show in Pittsburgh, i was down on the floor and everybody was on their feet and partying. That was the place to be. But in Cleveland, i was up in the stands and only about HALF the people in my section were standing. Unfortunately, everybody in the row directly behind me was sitting, and the guy behind me kept poking me in the back and telling me to sit down. I respectfully pointed out to him that many of the people in front of me were standing, and then i proceeded to point around the entire arena to show him that LOTS of people besides me were up and dancing. This was, after all, a rock concert, not a night at the opera. The people behind me didn't appear to notice that fact. So to avoid further confrontation i slipped into another section where the people actually had a pulse. And we danced all night.

So i was happy at the Penn State show when Prince said something like "don't worry about what your neighbor's doing, just get up and dance." Good advice. Luckily i was in a livelier section at that show, except for the two Penn State students beside me who were simply "too cool" to stand up. They literally sat through the entire show without so much as tapping their feet - they didn't even stand up for the encore!

Oh well, as the man says, don't worry about what your neighbor's doing. Just kinda amazes me that anybody can sit still when the NPG is in the house.
