How do you get DECENT tickets?

confused

Hi all~~

Just wondering How everybody buys thier tickets?...By phone, on-line,,or in person?

I bought mine at the box office..(wristband policy),,,which i think is B.S. b/c we were first in line,,after picking #'s...we were 4th in line~~~ grrrrr...

I was considering buying on-line...does anyone do this?....are your chances of getting BETTER tickets increased?
& was also wondering if ALL box offices open at exactly the SAME time?

Oh,,im not an NPG member,,,otherwise,,,i wouldnt be worried about getting good seats!,,,lol

biggrin
Ta for now~~~ smile

One word, my friend....EBAY. I got two tickets that are two rows from the stage. They were more expensive than Ticketmaster and, I'm sure, the NPGMC, but I got to pick my tickets and didn't have to wait for pre-sale or in line. It was worth it to me.

eBay is always an option- if you don't mind paying more. Lets face it, its a glorified, somewhat cleanup scalping operation there.

If you don't care for that join the NPGMC. You don't know exactly *where* you'll be sitting, but so far I have found this anticipation and mystery to be sort of fun. I've seen two shows. Both seats were close. One was AWESOME, one not so. See my posts if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Otherwise, for a casual fan who doesn't care about being right up close then really the first level of balconies are great seats. Clear sight lines, excellent sound... you really can't go wrong.

I personally believe there are about 40-50 bad seats on this tour- the ones behind the horns and the drums. The rest are groovy.

So it all just depends on how close you want to be and how much you're willing to pay!

Is it possible to get floor seats if you are not in the club?
I was 27th in line and still ended up in the lower bowl for the 6/20 concert in Detroit. I was 27th because there was a random ticket drawing.
Now there is a 3rd added at a different venue and I don't think they will have the random ticket drawing. It will be first come, first served, so I wonder if I will be able to get better seats if I get there extra early.

Absolutely. In theory the 2 sections closest to the stage go onsale to NPGMC members first. If they bought them all there would still be floor seats behind those to sections available to the public.

However in most cases the NPGMC is NOT buying all the tix they are allotted so there are still good, close floor seats available via Ticketmaster in most markets.

Further lots of floor tickets seem to be getting pulled for promotional giveaways and such. The people who end up on those seats are not NPGMC members, either.

My guess is that this is where the eBay floor tickets are coming from. They pull 50 seats for some giveaway and somehow *cough* 10 of them end up with a scalper who knows RIGHT where they are in the arena who can sell them for top dollar on eBay or wherever.

That's my theory from what I've seen.

Last I heard, it was $25 for lifetime membership...
As far as perks, that seems to go on Princes whim...some are well worth it (access to
soundchecks, special invite to Xenophobia, his weeklong party). Plus, the
emails are nice, but you can catch those on the ORG also. There are downsides of
the club also, namely, being kept on a short leash in their chatrooms and message boards.
I'm a member, but almost never go to www.npgmusicclub.com .
The best part, IMO, is the presales for concert tickets.
But, it is nice to have a choice.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I got a row 10 floor seat at Reno, off the tickets.com website, two days before the show! dancing jig Dunno why, but some great seats (rows 10 and 11 of sec. E) were suddenly released on Thursday evening...worked for me! I guess if you want to roll the dice, you can hope for a miracle like that, but you'd be better off pursuing the other options in this thread (NPGMC, Ebay, hit the website as soon as the tickets go on sale).

for the first presale they sold out in under 10 minutes for the floor and had to add side seats

My first concert, " Hit N Run" 2000, I bought at a local retailor in person, so had to settle for "best available" at the time, not realising people were able to hold up seats by viewing online with ticket master. At the time, I was thrilled just to get tickets. When we arrived, we were nearly in the nosebleed section, even though by the seating chart at the record store they looked pretty good.Trust me, more people than me, way more, had even higher up nosebleed tickets, at least 20 more rows! It's hard to judge an arena if you've never been there before, and really depends on how the event is layed out (ie end concert stage, circle- in the round like this tour, 1/2 arena, or whatever.) I've been WAY more thrilled with my last 2 online purchases, cause I could preview the arena layout, and with some sites, they give you a "virtual-view" from your actual section before you purchase. One night Alone was cool, a small venue, so virtually guaranteed a close seat, though not a "great seat", unless you used the web to view it. Mellon was super! 14th row, purchased myself online, about 15 minutes after ticket sales opened. Keep in mind, you don't have to take seats offered, but if they look pretty good, you might want to. Also, try and preview arena layouts before the concert ticket sales open. Best of luck!

I looked at your threads and didn't find anything more about one of your close seats not being that great. Why was that?
