OMG...Ft Lauderdale Ft Lauderdale FT LAUDERDALE!!!

OK...so I went to the concert last nite in Sunrise, Florida...

Prince and the NPG were dazzling!! And of course, why shouldnt they be? Schools in session!!!

Needless to say, the concert was incredible. I meant to bring a notepad with me to write down some notes about the show to tell ya'll but I forgot to bring it and if I did I probably wouldve forgotten to write in it anyway! lol Thats how hard I was partying...stood up the whole time in 4 1/2 inch stilletos (2 1/2 hours)
I will tell my experience from beginning to end:

Me and 2 of my friends left around 4 to get to the Office Depot Center, show started at 7:30 but I needed to get my member tix and was pretty nervous about that seeing how I heard others had troubles with not getting their tix...Once we arrived I immediately was given my tix much to my relief and we stood outside waiting to get in for about an hour...OK here's where Cherrie was reckless...when she paid $65 dollars for a symbol tamborine and $10 for a Prince and NPG poster tease HAD TA HAVE THEM!! SO then we went into the arena where I sat away from my friends, they were in the first row to my left I HAD FLOOR SEATS IN WHICH I WAS 9 ROWS AWAY FROM PRINCE...I could practically see the sweat on him!! love ...The show started a little late...I believe 15 minutes or so...but when Prince came out...HE CAME OUT...and Florida wasnt prepared for it ya'll!! Everyone lost it! He came out wearing a white suit with red pinstripe on it...WOO he looked GOOD!! He changed once into a white silk/satin shirt with royal purple pant...chest was showing ladies! love

I cant remember the exact order in which he played these songs but I remember hearing Musicology...Take Me With You...COntroversy...The One...Question of U...Lets Go Crazy...Kiss...Lets Work...Sign Of The Times...Joy In Repetition...I Feel For You...Cream...(and these were the ACOUTICS) Pink Cashmere...Adore...Chaka Khan's "Sweet Thang...On The Couch *which had all the LADIES in a bUNGLE*... Little Red Corvette... then back to full band Purple Rain...The Beautiful Ones...HE EVEN GOT ON THE FLOOR FOR THE BEAUTIFUL ONES love...When Doves Cry...1999...Shh...Baby Im A Star
Those are just a few songs I remember...some HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SHOW WERE:
1. When Prince sang ON THE COUCH and said he would go downtown, then acted all innocent when the LADIES screamed
2. WHen he dropped on the floor during THE BEAUTIFUL ONES screaming I WANT YOU
3. When he broke it down on what it was to be a real PLAYER "A real player is idolized, while fake players idolize...A real player doesnt worry about money because money doesnt make the player..." cool
4. When he put on a matching red derby to go with the white suit and said during BABY IM A STAR "Take a Picture ya'll DO YOU SEE THIS SUIT?" lol
5. When people were on the stage dancing and he walked up to this pregant woman during TAKE ME WITH YOU so she could sing the lyrix and instead she said to him "WOOO I LOVE YOU SO MUCH PRINCE!" And he make a face and stumbled because she screamed...then he said "Okay lets try this again!!" and instead of her saying TAKE ME WITH YOU she screamed and he fell on the floor! lol
6.I WAS THE ONLY ONE PLAYING THE TAMBOURINE WHICH CAUGHT HIS ATTENTION PLENTY OF TIMES AND HE POINTED AT ME FOR ACKONWLEDGEMENT EVERYTIME!! YES! I CAUGHT HIS ATTENTION YES YES YES!!! big grin ANd I blew a kiss to which he smiled and pointed again!!!
7. When Rhonda Smith slapped that BASS and John BEAT the helloutta them drums and when Prince called the guitar player *sorry forgot the name redface* R KELLY lol Candy stayed on my side of the stage and she can sing! I didnt know! confuse
8. When he began to play an Elvis song then stopped and said "Oh Im sorry, I thought was making a comeback...I aint never left! Turn the houselights on..." Then he looked around and the crowd roared in agreement because the arena was FILLED TO THE BRIM! clapping
9. When the band played Beyonce's demon "Crazy In Love" and PRINCE DID THE BOOTY HOP then announced "I AINT GOT NO BOOTY!!" lol And then asked someone to show him some BOOTY and the keyboardist NOT RENATO NETO, the other big guy, jumped up and did the booty dance
10. When Prince said the "SOME PEOPLE CALL ME RUDE, I WISH WE WERE ALL NUDE" part in Controversy...

YES FOLKS THERE WAS AN AFTERPARTY...The girls that I went with, who by the way throughly enjoyed the concert, werent planning on going, but I begged and pleaded and WE WOUND UP driving another hour and a half to Boca Raton to go to some club RADIUS...I didnt think he would have an afterparty but YES THERE WAS $10 dollars to get in...alas my friends, he did not perform much to my dismay, he did WALK RIGHT BY ME AND SMILED AT ME AS WELL AS NOD and then he stood to the back with guards while people crowded him and shook hands with him as well as drunkenly say how much they loved him and how big of a fan they were rolleyes

He left as soon as he arrived unfortunately...I tried my best to get into VIP where he was but only succeeded in getting upclose to the window and ONCE AGAIN making eye contact with not only him, but the NPG'er's eek Prince kept smiling everytime he saw me because I know I was looking eager and excited and young...there were alot of older people there...older as in like late 50's to 60's! eek But he snuck out before I could get an upclose and personal encouter with him...pout

OVERALL THOUGH...THE CONCERT DEFINETELY PUT FLORIDA IN CHECK ABOUT HOW SERIOUS OF A MUSICIAN PRINCE IS...keep it coming Prince!!

I agree that the concert was AWESOME!!!! It was my first Prince concert so I have nothing to compare it to, however, my cousin, who went with me, saw him on the Purple Rain tour and said he was just as good if not better than he was back then. When he came out on stage - OMG!!! Everyone went nuts!! He was totally loving it and stood in every direction with his hands up in the air while everyone was just screaming and screaming. I was in the first row off the floor right next to one of the walkways. Great seats! In fact, when he did that "I ain't got no booty" thing he was right in front of us. That was hysterical! I didn't realize how funny he is. And man - can he dance! He was just incredible. He is soooo sexy!!! I was just in awe of him the entire night. I didn't see anyone sitting, everyone was up singing and dancing the whole time. I have to say this is one of the best concerts I've ever seen, I would love to see him again. You can tell he really loves performing and gives his fans a great show for the money.

I went to the Prince concert last night in Fort Lauderdale. I live in Orlando and drove to Fort Lauderdale and back in one day for this concert and it was worth it. I didnt get home til 2am but it was great. There really isnt a word to describe it. I'm 23 and I have never seen him in concert and Oh My God was he fabulous... I cried when he first came out. There were some songs that I didnt recognize, but they sounded great. I listened to his new CD on my way to work this morning and I love it. It will be in my CD player for a while, LOL...
For anyone who will be seeing him, you are in for a ride. Wear comfortable shoes, for you will not sit down. Cherry, I wish I would have known about the Afterparty, I would definitely been there. Well, I just wanted to express my feelings. lol

Have a good day all

I am so happy for you Cherriehoney!! And I gotta say...I love your review. You see the shows the way I do so hug to you! Don't you wish you could bottle up the feeling you have right now and sip from it anytime you wanted? There is nothing like it.

I know the "it hurts so good" exhaustion you are in right now. I wore heels in Las Vegas... eek

cloud9 It's a lovely place to be

Hey Cherrie! I was in section 4, row 7 --- and I could hear your tambourine!!! The whole experience was surreal. I'm actually "down" today because it's over. I wish I would of bought tickets to Tampa & Jax too. I’m actually glad I wore six-inch heals -- to see over some of the heads in front of me. I wanted to climb on my chair – but that would have been too rude. It sucks being short! Did you see the platform sneakers he was wearing for the acoustic set? Too cute!!!!! No one -- that was at the show last night -- could walk away with out acknowledging that they just witnessed the best live-performer of our time (and maybe forever). I feel honored to have been there. I wish I could thank him in person! biggrin

I love your review, Cherrie. You surely had lots of fun.

For me, this was the first time I saw Prince in concert. I could have had a great time had it not been for the defective tickets I bought through a broker. I walked back and forth in high heels hoping the people at the Office Depot Center could offer me some proof that the tickets were unreadable. In spite of all this, I was in awe of Prince the whole time. The heavenly feeling of having been in his presence and that of a room full of fans is lasting, even today. I took my sister (a non-Prince fan) and she loved the show. Actually, she loved it so that she listened the free promotional copy all Monday long and purchased a copy from Borders. If he comes by Ft lauderdale again I would go again.
