musicology review--phoenix show

I am sending a story on the Phoenix Musicology Tour. I didn't think it should be posted under events as it is more a review. I published this story in in the Campus News at Scottsdale Comminty College where I am the features editor. But, I thought it would be of use to fans as Phoenix was the second date on the U.S. Musicology Tour and people are wondering what to expect.
Please let me know if you can post this.

Prince: The Musicology Tour
Baby You’re a Star—A Biased Review

Prince earned his royal title Wednesday, March 31st , at the Glendale arena (AZ).

The late start did nothing but promote beer sales outside the gate. People of all ages and ethnicities, attired in tuxes to tank tops, were willing to wait.

Prince emerged looking and sounding picture perfect, sporting a classic fifties style pink and black suit with matching hat. The rest of the band oozed sexuality through their instruments, dressed in lingerie and curves.

Teasing onlookers with thrusts, taunting lyrics, and screaming guitar licks, Prince catered to the “old school” fans. Catcalls from the audience backed up classics like DMSR, Controversy, and almost the entire Purple Rain album.

At times, the auditorium felt like a funk influenced jazz club as Prince gave props to the horn solos stating, “I don’t believe in lip syncing, but I do believe in horns!” At the height of his performance, a purple tinted chandelier was lowered over the Prince of funk as he reached his hands out and crooned, “come here baby”. It was hard not to feel like one of the beautiful ones. It was a night to remember as a group of fans, perhaps fan club members, were invited on stage to jam. Two lucky females actually shared a mic with a Mr. Prince Rogers Nelson.

Reminding the score of fans that not everything that comes out of Minneapolis is frigid, Prince emerged with his custom purple symbol guitar for the Purple Rain encore that left listeners with a haunting sensation. Remember the rumors about playing it backwards? Seductively, he slid down a pole into oblivion and it was perhaps the last time that fans will get to witness such a nostalgic set. Prince…Take me with u.
