There have been no aftershows thus far, right?

I thought it was stated that there would be no aftershows. It would figure not to be since there has been no arrangement for NPGMC members to get into them as it was on the last tour.

There was no prior arrangement on the last tour for members to get into any aftershows that might have taken place...and the details (in terms of whether or not members were given priority or whether or not they had to pay a cover charge) were not worked out until after the concert, as people were lining up to enter the club where the afterparty or aftershow would be held.

Although they did say that there likely wouldn't be any on this tour. Seems like Prince is getting to bed before midnight nowadays! smile

I beg to differ. I saw 2 consecutive aftershows in Hollywood when the ONA tour came. We were given passes prior to the concert and told to keep them until after the concert. The aftershows were free to members. THey announced the aftershow before the concert once the members were allowed in for the soundcheck. The NPGMC member names were on a list at the door of the clubs where the aftershows were held. I think it went rather smoothly since the first aftershow was in a club that was in the same building as the Kodak Theatre where the concerts were done. That required some prior arrangement and free aftershows were offered as a part of membership benefits back then.

Free aftershows were NOT part of the membership last year....in some cities and in some venues, they were free for members, and in others they were not. It varied from place to place. I know of plenty of people in L.A. who were members but still had to pay to get into the House of Blues aftershow due to the club not being aware that they were supposed to be let in for free.

I've never had the fortune of attending an aftershow, so I'm not sure about the announcement being made before the concert...can anyone else weigh in on this? I see that's how it was for L.A., but from my understanding, that is not the norm.

Anyway, I don't know why I'm nitpicking...but free aftershows were not a benefit of membership last year...sometimes it did work out that way, though.

I know there was an after show last night in Cinnci. I didn't get to go, but I heard that prince
was there. I guess it just depends on Prince, if he's in the mood or not. By the way, I did go to the afterparty in Columbus, OH with the ONA tour. Prince stood us up for like 2 hours, then walked in looked around and left. So I decided to go back to my hotel. Caught a cab, ended up right behind his limo. He was staying in my hotel. I didn't want to get arrested, so I said a couple of I love you's and went into the hotel. I caught the elevator and prince and his security gaurd came right behind me, and said can I ride? I was on the elevator with Prince for like a minute and all I could mutter was OH MY GOD. How lame of me, I know. It was awesome though.

There was no aftershow in Cincy only an afterparty. Prince and the band mostly hung out in the VIP room but i did meet Mike Scott, Chance, and Renato. I was hoping 2 meet Candi but hey better luck next time. It's funny 2 see 35 to 40 year old people just bunched up staring at a door with VIP on it and about 20 feet down the hall a glass window with a great view of Prince and the band. Hilarious!

Elboogy, you just made my fucking day. I think if they had played an aftershow last night and I had missed it, I might have had to go lay my head down on the train tracks.

But I have NO problems missing an afterparty....$20 cover for what, exactly? Of course, that's the problem, you never really know which is which.

Out of curiosity, was it a 21-and-over bar? How late did the afterparty last?

I was at an afterparty in D.C. during the ONA tour. I didn't see Prince, but there was word that he was there and was going to perform. I got in free for being a member -- whether or not it is the norm -- I don't know.
A prince never lacks legitimate reasons to break his promise.

I gotta be honest here and say I don't trust Prince on the afterparty tip. It's a rip off.

You're paying $20 to get in a club that usually doesn't charge anything. After sweating for 2 hours in a crowded club not knowing exactly what or why you're there, Prince comes pimping in, stays for 10 minutes, looks around, doesn't like the vibe, then takes off.

An afterparty or an aftershow? They are two different things.
