Is In-the-round working?

Just looking for some feedback. For those that have been to a Musicology show...does the in-the-round set-up work well? Does he move about quite a bit, or does he tend to "favor" one side or the other?

Thanks!

Yes, do tell. Are seats better that close? Are they random...or is getting there early recommended?

So far I've only been to Reno. Prince and the band did a great job of playing to the whole crowd. In particular, Prince regularly used the little wings on each side of the stage. My only gripe was that at Reno, I never saw Prince or any of the NPG throw anything (towels, drumsticks, etc.) on my side of the stage!

It works! and he is all over the place. Then when he sits down for the acoustic set he is in a swivel chair and turns all around, that was very cool.b

It works as well as most in-the-round shows....which means not very well for people with good floor seats and very well for people with crappy seats farther up in the center of the arena.

I agree w/ Rupert. MOST of the seats in the arena are fantastic and the upper levels really benefit from the set-up. There are (in my estimation from the two shows I've been to) somewhere around 70 seats (out of the 12,000-14,000 in the arenas I was in) that were bad. Ironically they are some of the closest seats instead of some of the farthest ones!!

And since he pulls people on stage to dance with him from this section probably half of those 70 end up being OK with it!!
lol

So for the most part the set-up is working. It is just not 100% perfect, but what is?

And as for Prince and the band moving and working it- yeah, they do. Big time. Candy really gets MVP in this category. She is usually on the opposite side from Prince entertaining. Filling the gap, as it were.

The rest of the band that is static- the two keyboard rigs and Blackwell all face center. I have yet to get any face time with them while they were playing (not counting when I was on stage in Omaha).
