Dancing on stage with Prince

lol

I danced on stage with Prince!!! It was for 3 songs in Phoenix, "Soul Man", "Kiss" and "Take Me With U". It was very exciting to feel like part of the show. Prince didn't dance with anyone but 2 women sang on "Take Me With U". I put my hand out for Prince to touch each time he went by but I thought everyone on stage was very respectfull of him. I also got a drumstick from John Blackwell. I have one from Sheila E also.
Did any one else on the org dance on stage?

Hi there....I was on stage in Phoenix as well!! woot! My first time on stage with Prince actually, and it was great!! Remember when Prince pretended 2 faint and fell backwards? Well, I was the dude standing behind him who caught him...giggle yay!
Didn't know what 2 do, I was surprised that he did this...I mean, I was just standing there with Prince in my arms eek biggrin I put him back on his feet though... lol
Afterwards I got 4 guitarpicks from one of the security guys, the show was 2 short unfortunately, but being on stage made it a really exciting xperience!
My girlfriend got on stage at the Reno show and she was steppin' with Greg Boyer. I wish we had some pics of these moments, we had front row tix 4 both gigs wink
Oh yeah, she also got interviewed outside of the venue in Phoenix 4 a news report on the Phoenix concert 4 channel 3....anybody from Phoenix who taped that?? Please lemme know if so...

Someone showed up at a David Bowie concert in a bunny suit and Bowie gave 'em a shout out. Maybe you should show up in a purple gorilla suit and he'll call out YO GRAPE APE!!!

I think I high fived you! I had on black leather pants and a black top.
The whole time up on the stage I was thinking "I can't believe I'm on stage with Prince, this is sooo cool!!!"

Do the guitar picks have Prince on them?

I wish I had a pic of this moment too!

Well the girl with the purple hair got picked because of her purple wig, so that might help. I didn't get picked I just was there waiting for them to open the gate and I booked it on up the stairs. But it did seem like there were some people that had been picked and another woman that was right by the gate didn't get up on stage and she had wanted to.

I missed the LA show, did he have people sing with him there? I hope they release it on DVD as I would like to see it.

Thanks, DM... I will just "book it up the stairs"... Sounds like a Chinese Fire Drill when the gates are opened. Or like the bull run! lol

Most of the time he asks Greg Boyer or Candy Dulfer 2 get some people on the stage. And 9 out of 10 times they'll b picked from the section 2 the left of John Blackwells drumkit. And allthough it usually is people from the first couple of rows, I do hope u make it on stage!!!

greetings, fellowdancingonstagerswiththepurpleone: (must we form a new club?)

I did learn something new about Prince during my 'experience' at the Ruby Skye in SF. I'd always wondered how he did the splits without breaking the heels on his sparkle-heeled boots. Well, just be4 The Doctor lifted me up onto the stage (oh, yeah), I was standing at Prince's itty bitty feet during two different songs and holding his hands (yep, they're soft alright). I saw that the boots had a metal brace bolted underneath that ran from the arch up and then down to the end of the high heel. The heel couldn't possibly break off unless the metal plate snapped in 2 -- not likely. That 'splains it, I thought, before completely going crazy and losin' it -- to this day, I can't even remember what songs he was singing!

It had nothing to do with being there early. It simply had to do w/ being in the right place- close up on the right end of the stage.

Before the lights even went down security came over and checked our tickets. We were on the "back" end of the stage, behind the horns and drums. We couldn't see ANYTHING. But they checked our tickets to make sure we belonged in the front row. Then they gave us wrist bands and all through the show security would not allow anyone who did not have the wristbands up against the barricade. Nice! No bum rushing!

Then when it came time to pick people to go on stage we were right there. One of the saxophone players was doing it, pointing to people and waving them over. When we realized what was going on there was a bit of a rush but not that much, really. My fiancee and I had to go quite a ways and were the LAST two people let in. Initially they were going to take me (I was leading her) and not let her in. LIKE I WAS GOING TO LET THEM DO THAT!! razz

Of course several people w/out wristbands got up also. They were taking anyone who came and was in the first 2 dozen people or so. But by keeping the front clear the traffic was easy and there was no real pushing or shoving.

They let us off the stage when it was all over off the OTHER end. The "front" of the stage. So there are gates on both ends. Concievably they could pull people up from EITHER end.

So if you are on one of the ends, by the gates- especially the back end behind the horns and drums then you are probably in the right place. They started pulling us up and lining us up after the instrumental version of FREE that Renato and the sax player did. When you hear that song start, get over there! Especially if you have the wrist band!

Well I didn't get to sing but I got to shake my booty with Prince. I also got to touch him 3 times as he walked by me I put my hand out each time and he reached out to touch mine!
I think I would have froze up if he put the mic in front of me.
