He really works all the sides well. And Candy and Rhonda do a good job of being where he's NOT so you have something to look at most of the time. The issues with the bad seats are not that Prince never faces that way- he does. The issue is the obstructions- the horn stand, keyboard rigs, and drums. I am six feet tall and couldn't see over or around them. Imagine what its like for smaller people!! I am thinking this "in the round" may be a little deceptive in nature...was that your experience? It seemed like from your comments that he stayed at one side-all night-with an occasional turning?
He moved around plenty. If you are not behind something you will see him all night. Usually with "in the round" there is still a front of the stage, and that is basically true here as well. The drums and each keyboard station (there are two) face center. This basically leaves an opening where Rhonda is. This functions as a defacto "front" for the stage. Your tix appear to be RIGHT THERE. You will get a great show. I also want to know what your advice is on this concert. I have never been to a major concert in my life, and I am 27! Do you have any ideas, thoughts, whatever-about what to do to make the experience the most it can be?
I'm so excited for you! Here's my advice- enjoy it. I remember the first time I saw Prince live. I had built it up into such high expectations that he could not and did not live up to them. I spent most of that first concert ANGRY that he was doing medleys, ANGRY that he didn't do more obscure songs, ANGRY that he didn't play the new album at the time, etc. My advice is DON'T do that!! Enjoy it for what it is, don't suck the joy out of it for what it ISN'T. There are medleys. There aren't *too* many obscure songs. But it will be fonky and you'll have the time of your life if you let yourself!! I know sometimes during life's major events we get swept up and don't have time to do things that might have made those experiences more meaningful-then we later think.."oh if I only would have...."
Concerts are hard to hold onto. I have the same problem when I am playing myself. The better the show is the faster it seems to go and the less there is to hold on of it when its done. Its a catch-22. Good shows leave no trace- bad shows you can relive EVERY MINUTE DETAIL of... this is not good! So just enjoy it and don't wait another 27 years to go again!! OH and what time, how early do they seat?? I'd call the venue to find that out. Seats are reserved so whenever you get there you will have the same seats. That's nice. I will be working all day and then driving from Omaha to KC. I will probably get there just as the lights go down. I'm six feet tall, blonde, and I'll be wearing a purple shirt and tie. Probably black pants. Maybe or maybe not glasses. Oh, and that's really me in my avatar if that helps. Look me up!! I'll be somewhere around the stage!

But I'm not going to really *try* to make it happen. I had my moment- let other peole have theirs! It's up to fate/God, whatever you like to call it. It will be a groovy show no matter what. I will just be with one person as the NPGMC only lets you buy two tickets! I took my fiancee to Omaha, my bass player to Ames and my drummer is going to KC with me. I'll be looking for everyone. Say hello!
