A Minnapolis boy's Ames Concert Review

Just got back from Iowa:

-The setlist was basically the same (if not shorter) than the LA show. The Ride was also played, and Adore replaced (The Question of U/The One).

-It was near a sellout crowd, as only the very uppermost nosebleeds were empty. Compared to MPLS, Ames Iowa wasn't as hip to all of the lyrics and call and responses that Prince does, but they were loud. The crowd was a good mix of ages, and types, etc. A little less freaky clothing wise than MPLS, but fun none the less. More drunk too.

I was in row 2 (by the batpole) and, despite my worries, my view of the action was always outstanding... NPGMC-thank you.Club memebers don't sweat the floor seats in the round-they rock.

Highlights of the night(musical and otherwise):

-DMSR
-The acoustic set
-Prince had light up heels in his red boots, when he stepped they lit up red.
-When the crowd was onstage Prince was dancin' by this 7-8year old girl showing he how to make the crowd push it up/raise to roof and throw their hands side to side. It was charming.
Also, while the crowd was onstage (mostly young attractive women by the way) a drunk girl touched Prince's hair, he shot her the death glare (you know like when Apollonia said she was joining Morris' group) and the massive bodyguard grabbed her and her friend and dragged them off stage. I say dragged because they kicked and screamed the whole way-hilarious.

Anyways it was a great show. Prince is in peak form and he was less preachy than I've ever seen him, and he still pretty sexual. Looking forward to MPLS.

No, it wasn't nearly sold out. The quoted attendance by the local newspaper was 10,245 and the Hilton Coliseum's capacity is roughly 14-15,000 for an "in the round" configuration. Addtionally, they gave away 1,500 tickets (a standard amount for shows that do less than 2/3 capacity) to campus students. So, the attendance was really 8,745.

LOL...that is a great story...I can just see Prince making that look...lol...

At one of the Harford Lovesexy shows I saw, some guy managed to walk onstage in the middle of the show and put his arm around Prince's neck like a friendly short of headlock. Prince was pretty cool about it, but they sure dragged that guy off after he let Prince go! I'm sure Prince's security people got royally reamed after the show.

So that's what happened! I saw them getting drug off. I watched the one climb on stage. She was not invited up. She climbed over the barricade and up onto one of the ramps herself unbidden. She could have really hurt herself being drunk and all. I'm glad they got her off stage.

Don't do that shit, people! mad

disbelief why do folks do embarrassing things like that?! i know it's gotta be a case of star-struckness or whatever, but still...then again, from all the accounts i've read the woman was inebriated. i've heard of sober folks doin stuff like this, too.

Drunken idiots can ruin anything. Prince should be glad that he has bodyguards to whisk these kinds of fools away. Just think about what happens out in the audience when drunken fools are falling and slobbering all over everyone around them. Not nice.
