Prince Puts His Stilleto Heeled Boot in the Neck of Oklahoma! I would like to thank whoever sent that bland review of the Oklahoma City show. One thing about Oklahoma is that top rate acts never come here aside from hardcore empty rappers and country warblers (as you could imagine). I've spent the last four years here. Before that, I lived in Chicago and NYC and I miss going to great shows and this Prince show certainly made me realize how much I've missed.
Yes, Prince started almost an hour late because the crowd took their sweet time getting to their seats. The show was a sell-out amid rumors that it wasn't selling. I'd seen the simulcast of the Los Angeles show a week earlier and the playlist played the same. He stopped and took jabs at Michael Jackson and his nose job(s) as well as wagging his tongue at lip-syncers. The crowd loved both. Out of all of the Prince shows I've seen, this is the first time I've seen Prince interract with his audience in a playful way. Upon bringing members of the audience on stage, a very nerdy bespectacled man nearly ran Prince over flailing all over the place. Prince simply stopped, looked at him and playfully extended his arm as if to say, "Am I in your way?" He eventually had fun with the guy, walking him all over the stage to 'sing' to the audience. A tomboyish sista he handed the pistol-gripped mic' to sing, "I just want your extra time and your....kiss!" thrilled him to the point of him high-fiving her. I was fourth row on the floor, so I had a pretty good look at everything. The NPG was as tight as a drum and the audience was hyped. Of course people complained about him not playing their particular faves: "Darling Nikki", "Erotic City", "P Control". Basically, the sexually explicit songs he doesn't perform anymore. As I explained to these people the next day, "If he were to play all of his hits, we'd still be in the arena!" As he threw his pimp hat out into the audience, I thought a fight might break out between a suburban housewife and a goth chick. Yes, the audience was very diverse! I do wish his playlist changed with each city, but it was enough of a thrill to hear "God" performed as well as "Sometimes it Snows In April". Prince rocked OKC to its core and as I arrived at work the next day to tired eyes and pictures taken with digital phones, it was proof that his music and persona will definitely stand the test of time. As I'm sure many will attest to, it's a natural high to simply be in the same venue with Prince. Him singing anything would have been a thrill. And the Musicology cd is a stripped down, adult Prince at his best. (Track 2 is heaven). "Who's pimpin' who...?" Peace, y'all. Check him out.

Okie sister here. Born here but would rather eat worms than listen to country music. My family is all here and so I stay here, but it is hard for all the reasons mentioned. Here we are in the damn BUCKLE of the Bible belt! And here in tulsa I have never known one other Prince Fan, not one, although I have recruited heavily and everybody knows me as "the Prince Fan". BUT.....OK City rocks. Did you guys know that Prince was in OKC in 1998 on the Jam of the Year Tour? oH YEA! I was there in the nosebleed seats and it was greaat but this time I joined the NPG Club 2 years ago, just in case he ever came back, and I
ll be danged I finally got my front row seats!!!!! And someone told me in 1998 that he had been here in the 80's. So that is 3 times and I hope there will be a fourth. I have traveled to TX and KS to see him in the past and it was worth it, but please Prince come back someday to Oklahoma. We do love him and the peeps will come to the show, and we will rock and funk and partay to rival any of the big cities. luv 2 u all

I am also from oklahoma and the tour mgr told me that was the most hyped crowd they had seen and probably why he did The Ride for the first time on this tour. On Jam of the year tour he also did a after show at a place that was called INCAHOOTS, (dont ask) the was THE SHIT. The only thing between me and the stage that night was the girl I was with.
