Dumb question: Whats the best way to avoid having to get on stage. DOn't feel like being dragged up there and dancing in front of a whole arena. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 6, 6...

Well, I'm sure it was fun for you, but what about the other 12,000 fans there? This may come as a shock to you, but I'd rather hear Prince sing than hear you sing.

First let me just say I'm not a big poster and NOT a whiner, but someone must have read this thread from NPG! The IOWA show was full of ppl. up on stage and I will say MOST of them (but, not all) were females in their mid-20's....many of them wearing skirts and tops so short, that up on the stage you could see EVERYTHING they had to offer! As I would call, eye candy. I will admit, I got a little upset, because my friend and I were asked to come up on stage and then were denied it. NO, I won't go into my full description, because usually there are ALL types on stage, but not really this night. I will say this; I don't think any man or women would have a problem w/ my looks or dress, becuase I'm in shape and dress nice. When I got upset and told the "Main Man" that he should not be so rude and treat Fams like this (This is after he held back my friend and I with his arm and let other all around go up. And no we weren't drinking, smoking or acting wierd, so please don't start that, I'm just explaining what happened this night)....Well the MAN mocked me, which REALLY got me upset. Normally I don't care to dance on stage, but as I mentioned....one of the band members said for us to come up, because we had been dancing our rears off all night. I spoke to the "Main Man" and he said HE is the one that picks them, which I could tell from the get go, and he said it would be done HIS WAY. So, please do not get upset with Prince. I was upset, but not w/ him, he is just there to entertain us, be entertained and have a good time. He doesn't know all the drama going on, nor should he. I could care less whom they took up on stage as long as they were fair about the process and NOT rude. In the end I was happy not to be up there...it was way better down where I was!

I responded to you about this on another thead but I'll quickly recap to clarify- No one got me instead of Prince. This was during a section where he was holding the mic out over the crowd and all 12,000 of us were singing! I was on stage. He walked by, heard me, and put the mic in my face. For one chorus people got me instead of their neighbors maybe but not instead of Prince. He was not singing at the time. And for the record I AGREE with you in general. I got very frustrated the first time I saw him in '97 when he would have the crowd (as a big chorus) sing. I mean damn! I've waiting my entire life to see Prince and I want to see him sing RASPBERRY BERET, not watch him lead a huge, unrehearsed community choir! I was NOT PLEASED that night. I paid to hear HIM sing, not to hear the crowd! But as I saw him more I realized that it was a fun way to be inolved in the show. Basically I realised if I couldn't beat them (and he wasn't going to stop doing it) then I would just join them and sing my heart out! 4 concerts later I got my "break". I was just lucky. Right place at the right time. But "luck" is merely the intersection of opportunity and preparation. Somebody smart said that...

I replied to you in the other thread too, but I see what you mean now and it's cool that you have a good attitude towards it. I really don't like when he has the audience sing the song either...Raspberry Beret is a good example, as you point out.

Well, because they're young, superficial, and unintelligent. We'll see what happens maybe when PoopertZ ages about twenty years and is fat AND bald. Karma usually takes care of those people.

I am 270lbs, bald and if I was any whiter I'd be clear. I've been very lucky to have front 3 row seats for every Indy show since the emancipation tour and I always get singled out by Prince for some gag. He made me the token "Lynch" durring ONA(but I cracked him up and almost ruined his whole witey is bad thing. He asked me my name...I said Baker. He asked me if I baked...I said I make a mean hot pocket. He lost it.), I was pulled outta the crowd for the dance contest durring the Emancipation stop @Deer Creek(Prince AND the house voted my "white dude with no rythum dance" as the best of the contest and I was told by Morris Hayes at the after party that Prince was laughing his ass off on the bus watching the replay of the show) ect... What I am trying to say is that color and size have NO impact on your entertainment value. Is it wrong to clown a little bit and maybe even give Prince a little back for all the amusement he has given us. Or am I not COOL because I just want to have some fun? Love and lust, they both have 4 letters...

point i have been trying to make all along, thank you prince doesnt view us based on what we look like, he sees us as fans and thats all that matters i still say its cool as hell that he is the way he is and that color/shape/size/money doesnt factor into the decisions he makes in who he talks to, or brings on stage One of the best days of my life... http://prince.org/msg/100/291111

You didn't say how tall you are, but a 270lb bald white guy sitting in the front rows is going to get noticed by Prince for sure The fact that you knew his act and had a gag ready for him (the hot pocket thing) is hilarious.
