The first and only previous time I saw him, was the Purple Rain tour. I got some free tickets and was surprised that I liked him. Even bought some of his records.
Flash 20 years to the present (or near past). I saw him in Reno.
Lows- crappy acoustics of Lawler Center (this is well known), obnoxious fans. Ok, I can understand geting excited, but it got old real quick having Prince drowned out by incessant whistling and screaming. If I were alive 2000 years ago listening to Jesus sermon on mound, I too wouldn't want him drowned out by people screaming "Halleujah!"

The in the round format was better than I expected. Prince really tried to give = time to all.

Biggest surprise- there were two- 1) Prince has gotten real good on guitat. No he is not on the same plain as Lifeson or Van Halen, but given him another ten years and you never know..
His voice- it was real good. He can still hit the high notes. He should be a poster child of why singers shouldn't smoke. Check out the first and last records by led Zepplen, see how crappy Plants voice got from years of smoking. Yeech!

One little correction- When Prince saw that guy with the wierd green suit, he said to the girl "You can come up... and so can you pimp boyfriend!". Pretty funny!

In the first five minutes of the concert, my wife and I both notice the opening notes of "Glamourous Life" .

Album- this is a good album with two songs detined to be classic. Muiscology speaks for itself, but "Cinnamin Girl" Has a vicious guitar hook that will stick in your mind like pool water in your ear. After I heard it in concert, I searched it out on my free disc while I waited to get out of the parking lot.

I have seen many a concert in my years. My favorite group is Rush. I place this concert up there with Queen "Bohemian Rhapsody"tour as the best I have seen. I have high regard for the late Freddie mercury.

I hope that I haven't offended anyone with my opinions. I really haven't kept up with Prince like the rest of you. So, why did I am even registar for this one post? Am I a troll?

Well, the day after the show, I heard some people at the store saying some junk about Prince. Of course they never saw him, but hey, they has their fun. It will really be a pity to miss him because of prejudice like this.

Regrets- I wish I could see him again real soon. I also wish that I would've brought my kids.

Final words- It is funny that these wanna bees like Spears and Madonna are copying the same gaudy perfromance the Prince did on the Purpler Rain tour. That show was 20 years ago! Prince has since moved on. This is badnews for these lipsynch'in wannabees. I'd like to think that all will like the show, but hey, there are those few. my wife's friend didn't like it because she wanted more old stuff and less new. WHatever... Someone in the elevator asked "What ever happened to Wendy and Lisa?" I said "They are selling bootleg concert shirts in the parking lot!"
I promise you this- No matter how many concerts you have seen, twenty years from now, this one will stay with you. I can only hope that HBO will broadcast it in HBO high def later this summer.

I agree with you...some Prince fans are more into "hero worship" than listening to and appreciating the music. Prince can be playing a slow song at the piano and all they can do is scream "I love you, Prince" rather than listening to the song and not making an ass out of themselves. Most people are cool of course, but that vocal minority can be annoying.
