Fat chicks onstage with Prince This has been discussed elsewhere, but I was curious about the general consensus out there. Do you like it when Prince brings audience members up onstage during the concert? I've always felt this was a transparent ploy to appear that you are connecting with your fans. It only benefits a small number of fans who get onstage, and for the rest of the audience, it is a distraction and lowers the quality and excitement of the show.
With the LA show, Prince took it to the extreme...having all those people onstage for so long. I'm sure they blocked the view of Prince for much of the audience in the arena, especially on the floor. And there were a couple of very fat women who were definitely a bit of a buzzkill if you were trying to watch Prince and just were assaulted by their offensive girth. God bless them for having a good time, and it's not their fault that Prince allowed them onstage, but it still hurt the quality of the show. That one fat girl standing behind Prince near the center of the stage in LA was SO distracting, and unpleasant to look at. It totally took me out of the moment, trying to watch the show. Prince should either stop bringing people onstage or at least just limit it to hot chicks and decent looking guys. This would exclude many people (including myself, no doubt), but it would make the show better for everyone else. I am paying $80 to see Prince, not a bunch of regular people. I can meet fans before the show and hang out and enjoy their company...I do not need to see them dancing onstage and blocking my view of Prince, etc.

Are you saying you would be okay with thinner, more shapely women on stage? The road you choose to walk in this life, is a road that leads to the next.....

I have less of a problem with full figured women on stage than folks who try to feel Prince up or try to dirty dance with him. I also would never go up on stage with Prince because someone would pick it all apart and ruin a once in a lifetime experience for me.

My first choice would be no fans onstage but if they must, it would be nice to have nicer looking ones. Lets face it - no one likes fat unattractive bodies

you guys are truely funny to think that your view points really matter in some way, or that it is 'taking anything' from the show to have a few fans get their moment with the man i strongly suggest stepping back -- take a breath -- and get over yourselves.... not everyone in this world was meant to be tiny, nor was everyone in this world meant to have big boobs, or whatever else you would say fits the bill of 'eye candy'. the point is, they are PEOPLE, you know, FANS, they paid their money, just like you did, and they got a chance to do things up there that they will tell their grandchildren about someday. just relax, enjoy the show, and let the people have their moment, cant you just be happy for them ????? Well, I'm just more concerned for the 14,000 people in the arena trying to enjoy the show, and not so much for the 10 people Prince decided to haul on stage, so that they can be distracting to everyone else. Turn on MTV and see how many grossly obese women you see on there...in fact, turn on any channel, and you will see few or none. That is because they are unpleasant and actually somewhat painful to look at, and that's why they don't need to be onstage with Prince. Everyone wasn't mean to be tiny and have big boobs, but everyone wasn't meant to be onstage with Prince either.

Like you said hot chicks and good looking people are on TV all the time. Truly it gets boring and it's so unreal. Fast food commercials should have heavy people on them all the time. The "hot" (I guess you mean skinny) people aren't eating at Mickey D's all the time, ok?
I think it's cool Prince invited real people up on stage. That's who was at the show, that's who should go on stage. Real people. Hello? Real people are sometimes heavy. It didn't ruin my concert experience at all. Besides some people are attracted to heavy people. Maybe Prince digs the big girlz. You're so antagonistic RupertZ.

i need to ask, was the woman "GROSSLY OBESE" as you say or was she just not thin ? these are very different ideas RupertZ said: That is because they are unpleasant and actually somewhat painful to look at
painful to look at ? how exactly does it 'hurt' you ? obviously, we will not see eye to eye here, and frankly, i dont feel the need to continue this any further....but just one last question, out of the 14,000 people there -- why are YOU the only one with a problem ??? on that note, looking back over a few forums, it seems you ALWAYS have a problem of somekind, or the right answer to whatever question, therefore, i can say, i would hope that prince's fans would become more intelligent, and be able to see outside themselves, its a much more lovely place to live when you are kind and compassionate to those around you honey, try it One of the best days of my life... http://prince.org/msg/100/291111

Some of us accept people for who they are as opposed to the childish, selfish, pompous, arrogant approach you have. I seriously hope karma drops a fat bomb on you one day. It's not just about physically unattractive women. When Prince has dorky looking guys onstage...it is just as bad. And as I said, I'm sure these people are cool, and they are having fun onstage and it's not their fault. It is Prince's fault for subjecting everyone else in the arena to a bunch of distractions onstage when we are all there to see him. The Gameboyz (Tony M and the other guys) didn't belong up there...and nor do audience members, especially physically unattractive ones. I just don't want to be watching Prince play his guitar, only to be blocked by some fan's big fat booty.

Please, the person who is highly critical can rarely bring anything of substance to the table themselves. It's a reflection on the person they are. The world doesn't belong to only the "beautiful" people. Beauty is more than skin deep. Sure, everyone has their preferences on what attracts them physically to a person and if weight is something that doesn't attract you in that arena, so be it. But to carry that preference into every area of your life to the point that you're blatantly discriminating against someone for not fitting the ideal mold, it's just sick. I love you too Stymies Personally I'm thrilled that supermodels weren't the only ones up on that stage. I actually did enjoy watching one of the heavy girls having so much fun. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Let me all tell ya something..... back some years ago don't you all remember that song "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" Remember how Prince wanted to show ALL OF US that ALL people are beautiful!? Not just the THIN ones!!!! I think its super that Prince brings up all types of people.. fat, thin, ugly, old young..... At a show I was at he brought a women up on stage that must of been 60.. she was dancing with Prince and he was smiling and talking to her.. I heard that after the show he got her and her friends tickets to the after show and even talked to them at the after party! I was at Glam Slam years ago, I am NOT a beautiful person, and I am heavy set... But I was dancing at "Erotic City" and Prince came in and he walked by me and my husband and said to my Hubby.. "cute girl ya got".. Now that made my night. SHAME ON EVERYONE WHO THINKS THEY ARE SO PERFECT THEY CAN JUDGE THE REST OF US!!!!!

Look at the CD cover for "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World". Do you think that is an accurate sampling of the average woman out there, in terms of physical appearance? Nope, that CD cover is filled with physically beautiful women, many of them model-caliber. There may be a few "token" unattractive women on there, but it sure isn't an accurate view of the "average woman". Sure the message in the song is nice, but Prince doesn't really believe it. . I'm appalled at the ignorance I'm seeing on this thread.
Some of you folks really need to take a good hard look at yourselves and consider how you've been affected by our media-saturated looks-ist culture. We have a reality show starting up on Fox called "The Swan" where they take a bunch of so-called "unattractive" women, cart them all off to a plastic surgeon, then have them COMPETE against one another in a beauty pageant. This, to me, is vulgarity. There's so much more beauty in what people actually are than in the appearance of someone who's afraid of what they aren't. And if you don't understand that sentiment, well, I don't know what else I can tell ya other than I'm sorry.

First of all more power to the fans who make it onstage...As long as they don't try to touch Prince or detract from his performance, I'm cool with fans being on stage...Another thing, odds are extremely high that those are Club Members and they deserve it! Since they are club members most likely they frequent this board so try to be respectful in what U say about those folks...It really doesn't bother those 14,000 other people in the audience as U might think...

If it bothers you that much, write out your ideal stage show and post it to NPGMC.
Explain where you'd like to sit, who you want in the band, what they should play, and describe the 'hot chicks' you'd like up on stage for your entertainment. Inform Prince that he should hire his band and invite audience members on stage only accordance with your personal visual preferences. And with any luck, Prince will personally arrange for Chance to sit in front of you all evening. . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

"Unattractive Token Women"????? Who are you to say who is unattractive.... and check out the video... Even some of the really thin women on this video are NOT that attractive.. R U a personal friend of Princes????? You know FOR SURE that he does not believe it? Then WHY is HE bringing HEAVY women and men on stage??? I guess Fellow Orger's. if we are going to go by RupertZ's policy then we should also admit the following from the stage. No large nosed people.... No people with too many body peircings... No handicapped people of ANY kind..... NO small busted women.. No overly large busted women.... hell... lets just have Prince point to each women and let him Nod Yes or No..... Geez!!!! Personally.. I don't "need" any one up on stage dancing with Prince... but for that one song or so... I am pretty darn sure it is not going to "Ruin" the whole show for me..... I bet if RupertZ was asked to come up and dance he would be jumpin' up there right away!!!!! This world is VERY sad..... I agree with Anxiety as well!!!" I bet if Prince reads this... (which alot of people say he does) he is shaking his head in amazement!!!!! LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER NOT just LOVE FOR THE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE..... duh!!!!!
