phoenix show...what a dissapointment!

The worst part of the show was that it was exactly the same show I had seen telecast monday night, cut short. Every other big band(stones etc,) have different playlist, for different nights. What was prince thinking? Most hardcore fans went to see the premiere on monday. Not only was it cut short, it was the exact same scripted performance! No originality. Is prince getting too old? I feel sorry for people at his 30th show etc.
If I would have known the show was going to be cut short, I would have went to the Staples show instead of the Phoenix show. I was going to the Vegas show, but Im not anymore. What happened to little red corvette? erotic city? gett off? I wanna be your lover? rasberry beret? pop life?

I don't think you're going to hear Erotic City or Gett Off on this tour.

Most everything you say is totally incorrect. Every other big band doe NOT have different setlists for different nights. The overwhelming majority do the same show each night. And the Phoenix show wasn't necessarily cut short...maybe the LA show was just extra long. Considering it was the first show of the tour and it was broadcast around the world, it makes sense that Prince put a little extra into it. If you expected every show of the tour to be that good, then you are very ignorant and foolish.

didnt he say somewhere that the early shows were used to get things lined up, you know, ready for the rest of the tour ? i know that doesnt help you at all...but, maybe you should go ahead and check out the other show too ? i mean, seeing prince can never really be a 'disapointment' can it ? confuse maybe it just didnt live up to your expectations...

i think this is when the internet can make things harder on everyone, i mean, i too have expectations due to the things i have read here, and it is hard to do a show EXACTLY the same everytime, dont you think ?

The night i talked with a member from princes band, he let me know that prince does check out the net quite a bit, especially on tour, maybe he uses it in his free time, what little there is, but still, imagine comming in and reading everything your fans say about your show, the wonderful, and the not so wonderful, (for the record, i do believe that he reads the things in here, hell, search anything you want to about prince, and the org is not far from the top of any list....) gotta make it hard knowing that every little thing you do will be sent out to thousands of fans within hours.... disbelief its cool man, play on, we are lookin forward to seeing everything you do woot! travel safely out there man, and take care of yourself rose

I'd be pissed too if I were you. The accoustic set is the one thing I am really looking forward to. You payed the same money and yet you only got 80 percent of the show copared to the first 3 of the tour which is not cool.

If he is going to charge that much for a ticket he better fucking be ready to deliver EVERY night. If he is too old and tired to give his best performance EVERY night perhaps he should have scheduled more off days.

He did the exact same acoustic set in Bakersfield from what I understand so I think it is supposed to be part of the permanent show.

wow, he did it two nights in a row, so it must be a permanent part of the show and he is supposed to do it every night...what incredible logic.

It was an ENCORE...an extra....he probably won't do it every night. Maybe he will, but don't count on it.

I can't believe people are complaining about the greatest show on earth. What a treat! But some people just gotta focus on the negative. That's just pretty sad. And by the way, Prince loves to play, so if he cuts a performance short, I'm betting he had a pretty good personal reason to do so.
Those complaining they didn't get their money's worth should go check out Madonna for 300 bucks

Damn man some of you need to think before you type, and read a little.

First anyone who has seen numerous Prince shows even WAY back in the day knows he is an exact stageman. He has ALWAYS done some planned subtle acts on stage that when first seen look to be natural but when seen again you say, hey I thought that was spontaneous last night. Hes a great performer to pull that off! And the Ffunk is always real so chill.

Second its said so far that after he THREW the mic at the sound guy he cut the show short.
Now whether thats the case doesnt matter some shit happened and he didnt do the acoustic set which sucks but he will do it usually.

The core of most shows is the same with some song variation here and there especially in the acoustic set which was different in Reno than LA.Same with the shows at the fillmore so quit bitching and think about the damn situation.

I don't get it. Do some of you expect Prince to sign some kind of contract saying what he is or is not going to play on any given night??? PUHLEEZE! I can see it now... let's say Prince did play the acoustic set in AZ, but deep down inside he really didn't feel like playing it. Then some of you all would be bitching about how he played the acoustic set "but he didn't seem like his heart was in it, so I"m still disappointed"

I mean give me a frickin' break! Prince can't win for losing with some of y'all.

Temptation

Personally I think you got a very unique show, fraught with high drama from a master of the art. If he really did throw his microphone at someone, that made it different and memorable. Like the night he chin-checked Boni Boyer and barked, "Who's the fool singin' 'will'? It's WOULD, Still would stand all time..."

Or the time he cancelled the LA Forum as fans entered the parking lot the night of the show...

Or the "almost aftershow" when he set up all the instruments at the Sound Factory in San Francisco, only to look out at the crowd, demand cheers, and leave the building when the cheers weren't worshipful enough.

That's our Prince. Still storming off the stage at First Avenue, 20 years down the line!

i have been to a lot of concert, also on different concerts of the same tour - it always has been great nights! never thougt of expacting anything, neighter the same shows neighter complete new shows.

i have been on ONA 3 times - every concert was different.

i am not expacting the accoustic encore, when he will play europe - if it will happen i am happy if not, the rest of the concert will sure have been great!

i think the accoustic encore was not part of 100% concert but the 10% more.

Dude put a sock in it. Every review for this concert has been great. It is called a live show.
Sounds like tech problems may have shorten the show. Better to shorten than have bad sound.
In additon, I have seen Prince 8 times and he never performed Erotic City.

maybe U R right...and the ONAs were all great! They did evolve a little as time went on...but he did have a core "program" that was the same.

Sorry dude. I must have missed the part where I insulted you. Last time I checked I typed something about positivity. I questioned how much of a prince fan u were not whether u were or not. But since you brought it up.....Ummm you joined in January not February. Funny thing .....Before I was born? Son, unless Prince was recording music in the late sixties it is not possible for u to have been listening b4 I was born. And about the $$$ issue I am quite sure I could afford your guitars. So how much? Funny how people get so sensitive in here and want to turn it into a personal matter.
