Setlist - Staples Center Performance - 3/29/2004

Ok,

This is the tracklisting as I was able to compile it while trying to enjoy the performance. This may or may not be totally accurate, but it is to the best of my ability! Enjoy:

Show opens with introduction from VH-1's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2004 Show. Alicia Keys and Outkast are shown introducing Prince. Alicia Keys is speaking and says "There are many kings but only one Prince...". The show kicks off...

Musicology
Let's Go Crazy
I Would Die 4 U
When Doves Cry
Baby I'm A Star
Shhh...
DMSR
A Love Bizarre / I Feel 4 U
Controversy
Renato medley / God (piano instrumental)
The Beautiful Ones
Nothing Compares 2 U
Insatiable
Sign 'O' The Times
The Question Of U
The One
Let's Work
U Got The Look
Life 'O' The Party **NEW SONG**
Soul Man (cover of classic by Sam & Dave)
Kiss
Take Me With U
*****
ENCORE Songs: (Prince plays seven songs on an electric acoustic guitar)
Forever In My Live
Real playas (??? NOT SURE ABOUT THIS ONE! CAN NE1 HELP ???)
Nuthin' After Midnite (??? Not sure about this one! ???)
Sleep On The Couch
Little Red Corvette
Sometimes It Snows In April
Seven
*****

The final song was:

Piano Instrumental (A Father's Song???) / Purple Rain

That's it!! The show was AMAZING!!! Prince showed why he has been and still is so relevant after 20 years!!!

cosign...is it me or has prince never sounded better...my head is still recovering from that earth moving, ear drum shatrtering, thunderous version of DMSR and lets work....prince has still got it...i felt sorry for that girl who fell of the runway during life of the party...LOL...

If I remember correctly he went off on The Q of U, SOTT & PR - extended PR (the singing chant @ the very end) for a LONG time, had me wishing I was there! mr.green

You know what surprises me? I know his catalogue is just too vast but he didn't sing ICNTTPOYM. I guess there's a lot of significant tunes he left out (Do Me Baby, Head lol , Adore). Fucking GREAT show though, I wish it lasted another hour headbang

Most definitely and most plentifully! Hallelujah! Mostly back and forth between the Hohner and a Strat, except for Purple Rain, where he pulled out the blue/purple symbol guitar. Oh yes, and there is an acoustic set but I didn't catch the make of the guitar on that one.

But rest assured, guitar heads will go away satisfied.....

Thanks for the setlist. I was up late last night after the concert trying to store it in my mind and on paper forever. Didn't he also sing Tracy and Candlelight? I could be wrong on the titles - I'm too sleep-deprived from last night to go thru my Prince cd collection.

I wouldn't quite go that far, the theatre I was in at Union Square Regal had plenty of empty seats, including two empty ones immediately to my right. I didn't feel packed in at all! But, that's a good thing.

You'd put Rave over Musicology? Wow, that's surprising. I don't agree, but that's interesting.....
