The show was the best I've seen in a long time. I'm totally out of breath. To begin the show it started off with the Alicia Keyes speech from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame The stage was in the round with 4 runway extensions so that he was able to walk out into the crowd. He came on stage in his traditional white bell bottom pants with a red 3 quarter length jacket. The next outfit he wore white bell bottoms with a white shirt with red polka dots, and the last outfit with all black, well fitting black pants (can we say spandex), and a muscle shirt. The man is FINE, he's got the look. The show lasted until 10:30, which is unusual for him, but all in all the was an OUTSTANDING show. We have a new band member name Michael Phillips straight outta Harlem, it was his first show with Prince, he's a keeper, the boy is BAD. My girl Cheryl dressed in her NPG attire with tamborine in hand was pulled on stage and jammed with Prince and the NPG. Here's a list of songs that he sang, not in order of the show. Little Red Corvette I Wanna be your lover Let's work DMSR The Beautiful Ones Seven Slow Jams Under the Cherry Moon KISS Nothing Compares 2 You Take me with U Let's Go Crazy I'm a soul man Purple Rain U got the look Sign O' the times And from the New CD Musicology Illusion, Coma Pimp & Circumstances (TIGHT) If I was the Man in your life There were a few more songs that he sang but due to the excitement of the night I'm having a hard time remembering. All I can say is I can't wait for June 1. Good Night Family No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Few surpises on the set list. Seems to be a combination of everything he's played during the recent LA, LV, SF, and NY shows, plus last fall's Hong Kong/Australia gigs.
No matter...I was at Club Black 2 weeks ago...the show was smokin' And the acoustic guitar set sounds great....a nice change of pace from the solo piano set we've all become familiar with. Eugnj420

Now we know we get the full CD, not the single. What enhancements will Sony put on the April 20 release? Pray for live version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps from RRHOF ceremony. ________________________________________________

Just to clarify to everyone asking questions, I live in Ohio and did NOT, I repeat NOT go to the concert last night!!! I saw this post over at the club and thought I'd post it over here for the junkies....I wish there was more detail too, TRUST me. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

I'm kinda hopin' for less detail, at least until after Monday night....I don't wanna walk into the simulcast already "been there done that" about everythang, ya know?

Better question is...
What about the New CD!!! Whats the initial thoughts from those who got it last night?? Is the cover really that awful? What are the highlights of new songs?? Details PEOPLE!!! The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.
Remember there is only one destination and that place is U All of it. Everything. Is U.

the new cd is damn good, a bit short, but good. it clocks in at a bit under 50 mins. the cover on the slipcase is basically the same as the sony one but there's no pic of prince and it just says 'musicology' in the center with the tree lookin stuff in the background. i'll leave the song descriptions to someone else, but i will say that it's some of the funkiest stuff in a while with only a few ballads. and multilayer vocals make multiple appearances. i'm parital to a million days myself Love's no fun when the one you love don't love you.

Little Red Corvette
Seven Under the Cherry Moon God (instrumental) w/ 'she's crying backwards' intro Under the Cherry moon Sanford & Son jam When Doves cry Forever in my life during the acoustic set So I saw both Hawaii show-both Vegas shows and the after Grammy show and these songs were not played...Just from this first night it looks great! I can't wait to hear more...There's going to be ticket and seating problems but dang, the music will be undeniably great! I already feel better about my upcoming flight to NYC for the MSG shows!!! Aloha~

Classic prince all the way. i've listened to it repeatedly non stop since i got it. i've never done that with any album before. its really not comparible to any album, there's a lot of guitar work and rocking out, but not quite in the same way as C&D. it has its jazzy parts, but they definitely complement instead of take over. The timings for reflection and what do you want me to do are different from the files offered for download - are they different arrangements?

Thanks, sound so good. The real question is whether to bring a portable CD player to the movie tomorrow...no, wait, that woudl be ridiculous right Someone on NPGMC said it sounds like Rave and NPS in places, which is not very encouraging, so I'm happy to hear your take!

Reflection is the same, but has an additional 1:10 or so of silence. What do U want me to do has someone speaking italian the last 30 seconds. Mani perhaps? Love's no fun when the one you love don't love you.

upon further research prince's 'cinnamon girl' is NOT the same as neil young's. Love's no fun when the one you love don't love you.

Considering the subject matter of that song it's probably Mani speaking Italian and telling other women to stay the F away from Prince or she'll kick their ass(es)

UNBE-FREAKING-LIEVABLE!!!! RENO!!! What a show! I finally was able to get my wife to a Prince show and knew that she'd be converted, but man, oh man, she had no idea she'd be converted from the stage...Seems my sister-in-law had some nose bleed seats (not bad with the great sound and huge screens showing all the band action, but not as good as out floor seats right near a catwalk) and my wife wanted her sister to see some of the show from a good vantage point. They exchanged tix, my sister-in-law was totally blown away to be so close and then went back to get my wife. As my wife was coming back to her seat, she was asked to come on stage and dance. The dude next to me grabbed me and said, "Ain't that your wife????" I just about split my gut...She had the time of her life up there and managed to be in Prince's way at one point. He touched her arm as he walked to the other end of the stage and I thought she was gonna faint. Oh yeah, she's converted in a big way...
The coolest thing is that I was able to get onstage at the Fillmore show, Sunday, February 15th and sing a bit (yeah, yeah, I needed the lyrics-just a little nervous) during Take Me With You and now the wife knows kinda how it feels. We'd recommend it to anyone and everyone. What kinda odds are thay taking for that? Of course, she's bragging that she was on stage in front of 12,000 (rather than the Fillmore's 1200) and that he'd been inducted to the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame after I sang with him, but, hey, whatever. I truly believe this will be Prince's year. The new CD is great, the show was unbelievably tight, he works himself and his band's asses off on a stage with great sound and sightlines. MY highlight was the acoustic section with Prince alone with an acoustic guitar singing like we were at his personal campfire. In essence, we were. Once this show hits LA and people really start to talk this tour's going to be the hottest ticket in town this year or any year. Get your tix, get 'em early and make yourself seen, because you will see the show of your life. It's really that good. Thanks, Prince and the NPG. Nice to hang with you guys for a bit... Keep up the fine work.
