I think the answer would be a resounding NO.

They'll jack you up if you try to walk in there with a camera...or a recorder of any type.

You can take a camera in the show if you want your ass kicked. Just kidding, the answer is no.

The use of camera-phones is also forbidden, check the NPGMC it's on a thread there.

You get the "pat-down/purse check, walk through/get scanned by the metal detector etc when you enter the venue...they will confiscate your camera/phone (can transmit sound)/recording devices. Or at least this is what I've seen in the past

That is just retarded....I have one and I am going to take my chances....that is just a bit paranoid... You don't understand, I ain't scared of you muthafuckas!

Back in 1997 my friend brought his camera to take a picture when he proposed to his girlfriend...it was taken at the door. So hope you're not too attached to your phone.

They have no right to "confiscate" anything belonging to a patron. They may refuse to let a patron in with something, and the patron may voluntarily surrender it to gain admission, but they may not unilaterally take something. So, like, nobody is allowed to walk in with ANY kind of cell phone, or just no camera phones?
Man, what a mess this is gonna be...

At the ONA shows it was no cell phones, period. Turned off or otherwise, whatever, it didn't matter, leave it in the car. They were enforcing it as well, so I would expect that to be the same policy? Or maybe not. Of course I was in the orchestra pit so we were given a little extra scrutiny. Man what I would give to have had a little tape recorder in my pocket, shit. I wanna relive some of that experience...in April, 2 years ago. Ah.... No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

What car? I'm walking to the concert. I'm sure I'll manage to survive without my cell phone, but it would be handy to have it, since I need to meet someone before the show to give them a will-call NPGMC ticket. Ya know..... ladies with a C cup or bigger can always get a Cell Phone, Camera, Dat Machine etc. into a concert by not wearing a bra and taping it under their breast. But you didn't hear that from me. My name is Prince and I want your money

"by not wearing a bra"... reminds me of a rave I went to where they were checking females' bras at the door. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

Actually, the ONA Tour in London, almost everyone had a cell and they were told to turn them off. When an entire country lives by the cell (well they do say mobile), and travels by public transportation, a phone cannot be returned to a car and the venue will not want to hold on to a cell because it makes the venue responsible if the phone is lost or stolen.
However, I will report back on the camera phone (since I do own the Nokia 3650 which also records video for 1 minute 30 seconds, but crappy image) issue when I take mine into Assembly Hall in Champaign, IL (April 10).

I don't know. If I tried to sneak in a camera by not wearing a bra... and Prince started saying "everybody jump and down!" ... I don't know... I'd just might knock someone out. But seriously though, I would really like to know if I can bring my cell phone in with me. I've got an older Nokia -- no camera on that crapola. "No, I'm not that mysterious. I'm a pretty open book. It's kinda wishy washy - as mentioned @ ONA cell's were not allowed. At the Fillmore (granted, a smaller show so different rules may have applied) I was told via phone that no cell phones would be allowed. When I got there they let people w/ cell's in but camera phones had to be checked in @ coatcheck or something. And if they saw you calling somebody, holding your phone up (like many fools did @ the Fillmore ) they took your shit & checked it. I'm not gonna take any chances - my shit will be in the car...

That is the same show that I am going to!!! It is really not all that serious to me, if they want me to turn it off or not take it in, that is fine, but I just think it is a bit silly that's all. Recordings I understand, they can be sold for a profit, but a thumbnail photo taken by a camera phone? Please..... You don't understand, I ain't scared of you muthafuckas!

I was at a ONA sound check in which no phones were allowed.
However, someone who had snuck one in forgot to turn it off and it started ringing loudly while Prince was taking some chill time to talk with us…. There were less than 50 of us with Prince at that time. Prince repeatedly asked “Who’s phone is that ! ?, Who’s phone is that ! ?” NO ONE would fess up. Prince was in a playful mood he said he wanted to talk to the person who was calling…. Still, no one came forward. Another missed opportunity. Later at that show, Prince actually encouraged people who had brought phones in to call their friends and relative up on the phone during the show and let them hear what they were missing!!! Go figure!! At the aftershow that same evening, Prince saw someone with a camera and then prompted them to take a picture while he posed, then he called security and had them stomp the guys ass out, take the camera, and then throw him out. So, you never know what could happen to you. I have almost had my butt kicked several times by Prince security while attempting to sneak a pic, but once I was granted a Prince Press pass for video and film and even taken backstage, so I guess anything is possible depending on who you talk to and what Princes mood is.

Hi,
Can someone who's already attended one of the Musicology shows let us know if camera phones are forbidden or for anyone who has already has their tickets in hand, does it mention no camera phones allowed? Thanks

Thanks Hey i originally posted this question and i just went to the Prince concert in Reno, NV. And yes when we arrived, security asked if i had a camera... however they weren't really strict, maybe becasue it was a small college venue. But i did manage to bring in my camera phone and snapped a few pix. However i did notice during the show, flashes from cameras from the audience so, u can try at your own risk!!! oh and on a side note the show was BADD ASS!!!!! Prince rocked the show!!! Have fun at the concert

When I picked up my tickets at Staples center in L.A. there was a printed memo that stated that no recording devices/cameras were allowed. And if you were caught w/ one they would be confiscated. There were metal detectors at the entrances & security asked to put any metal objects on the table before you go through the detector. But during the concert I did see quite a few people w/cell/camera phones & even a couple people taking pictures!

Well during the ONA soundcheck in Louisville.....this actually did happen to me but I didnt sneak in my cell phone but I did forget to put it on silent and I was sitting 1 person away from Prince right by his bodyguard and I was never so embarrassed when it started ringing.....the caller id said it ws my ex-husband and becuz we have kids that is the only reason he would call me....well Prince is just is looking at me with this little smile on his face so I offered him the phone and said U want to talk to him for me.....I guess Prince was feeling kind of playful cuz he said yeah and I handed him the phone.....I guess there was maybe about 100 people there so Prince puts the mic up to the phone and proceeds to answer with this deep voice "Hello".....they asked for me of course and he said "she's busy right now we are discussing ur all's future relationship".....well the person h/u on him.....people in the audience are cracking up....me included cuz I am still thinkin at this point it was my ex on the other end and I can just imagine what he thought when some man answered my phone.....so Prince hands the phone back to me and he is just laughing.....I think he really was ready for a good prank and it ended too soon unfortunately.....but Prince wasnt mad....I did call back once we got outside and found out the person who called was not my ex but my then 11 yr old daughter.....who h/u cuz she didnt know why some strange man was answering my phone.....of course I told her who it was.....she didnt beleive me.....but we still tease her about it to this day.....LOL!!
