Set LISTS? In the ROUND? ?just wanted some opinions-- Do you think he'll mix up the set list more than the last tour? Would it be worth seeing two shows if you could or will it be the same show?
Do you think our seats may be too close if it's in the round? Lovesexy I was in Loge section and I could see the whole stage perfectly.. anyone..?? [This message was edited Tue Mar 23 21:12:11 2004 by DMSR] ______________________________________________

Not one Prince show is the same, so if you can go to all there is to see/hear in your area, GO !
His form and mood can be different from one day to another and you'll notice it when he performs ! His catalogue of hits is big enough as well to play different sets for the tour. Futuristic Fantasy

Actually I suspect there will be a lot of consistency to this tour set-wise. Look up TEMPTATION's posts about the business aspects of this tour. Prince was paid up front for the whole tour by the promoter and one of the stipulations of his contract was set list. Translation- he is contractually obligated to play certain songs. Like DOVES, CORVETTE and most of PR. I'm sure there will be some room for him to play new cuts or vary the deeper fan faves. One night might be JOY IN REPITITION and the next ANNA STESIA but 75% of the set will be set in stone I bet. CORVETTE, LET'S GO CRAZY, KISS, etc. I hope I'm wrong. I'm seeing the tour three times!!

I saw two Chicago shows for ONA and the setlist was almost identical. Had I known that, I would have opted for one show only. His form and mood can be different from one day to another and you'll notice it when he performs ! And what about the 'in the round' seating? I'm in an upper 100 level section at the Lousiana venue and hope that I get a good view.

I agree with you though.. ...how many versions of each song you think P can come up with ? Futuristic Fantasy

I've tried looking up Temptation's posts on this subject and haven't come up with them.
I'm not sure how he (she?) came by the info, and I know that contracts in the music biz can be pretty convoluted. But, I wonder, how do you contract someone's behavior on any given night? I mean, if P decides not to play Little Red Corvette, will some lawyer ambush him after the show? I wonder how such a thing can be defined? And if P wanted to, don't you think he could defy it? Even if they have some agreement saying that P has to play 10 of these 12 songs, P could run through them and medleyize them to death. Could something be in the contract that he has to spend at least two-and-a-half minutes on each of the contractually obligatory songs? I don't think P would have a huge problem playing by the rules, after all, he's obviously agreed to doing this very extensive tour to beef up his appeal with mainstream US fans. And we all know he considers most tours to be for the fans, not for the diehard fans, and usually plays a lot of hits anyway. Do you all think he's going medleyize a lot? I would rather he not, myself. It can be a bit frustrating when he doesn't settle into a groove. If he's going to really play the hits I sort wish he would just play them out, with solos and jams, rather than just have the snippets. What if he actually played "Computer Blue" instead of just having a sax rendition of the instrumental theme. As for the consistency of the setlists, I agree that large parts of the show each night will be roughly the same. Most major tours are like that, given all the lighting cues and such that are necessary. Then there will be those parts that are looser, the few songs that will shift from night to night. As for the other point of this thread, I suppose being too close in the round could have a downside, not seeing him perform on the other side. But then again you might get nice views of drum techinque, or Rhonda's behind, or some other good stuff. [This message was edited Thu Mar 25 15:06:44 2004 by Anotherwontdare] Every now and then

Even tho he did most of the same songs.. he did change the order around a bit, and added a song here and there, and removed a song here and there. And they are correct... alot depends on his mood, and how the crowd is.. I am going to at least 3 shows..... and If I can I will go to more! Its just FUN! :O)

The party in the parking lot, the cars boomin' great tunes, the dance moves spanning four decades, the clothes people bust out, the crazy sh*t they do when the man gets 'em all excited...where else ya gonna find that? It's a crazy quilt of color and it's different every night! YOU PEOPLE ROCK!!
