OK Ayan,

I read it all, heard it all, and have your back. If anyone knew you, is all I can say. Ya'll just don't know. Ayan, you a good man, not a whiner or a complainer. I look forward to hangin with you at many more Prince jams and treasure our past experiences, and have always enjoyed hearing your first hand accounts. You've been to more cool late nite Prince jams than 99% of these people. You know you've been done known betta, and how. If you say the venue sucked and was dangerous, I believe you 100%, you've been to some really great jams, being in the right place at the right time is so nice. I'm glad others enjoyed themselves. I'm glad no one was seriously hurt. Prince has always treated his fans well, has been my experience, but then my expectations aren't real high. I'm happy with whatever he has to give, it's always been good & plenty. I've never been disappointed. With all the shows you've been to Ayan, how many were awesome? yeah I know, bad times are rare there. We gonna have a good time next time. I bet you 100 bucks he never plays there again.

I'll write the next one, it'll be nice, March 29th is coming up quick, wish you were here Ayan.

Pam

I really think some people are walking around with rose colored glasses.

THESE ARE MY PERSONAL OBSERVATIONS - NOT HEARSAY

No one is saying that Prince didn't tear it up. God knows, I could have pissed my pants to finally be up stage front row after following him for 23 years. Just to watch his fingers flow over the strings was enough to make my night.

It was the CLUB and I'll say this, it was partly NPG also.

I personally tried talking to a few of the bouncers and only one or two actually understood or cared what was going on.

One even told me that there were 7 owners and not one of them could make up their minds about how to handle such a crowd. So they were going to let everyone in at one time.

I explained to another one that one line wouldn't do, because NPGMC members get in first, that's what was posted and that's what we believed. He just shook is head because he knew things just weren't going right. I was one of the few that was let in first and saw people over at the TM windows getting tickets. So not all NPGMC members were let in first.

Another guy said the CLUB hadn't spoken to NPG or New Power New York about anything, when I know that NPNY tried to get in touch with the club, but were put off. And I personally know that two people went in and spoke to someone in the NPG Camp and was still put off.

At around 3:30 pm a person from the club said that ticketmaster confirmed that all tickets were sold. The Club was officially sold out at 3:30 or so. Later that night while standing in line, I heard one of the bouncers say to let in another 500 or so and them cut them off.

When I asked the guy why I couldn't keep my ticket stub, he made some comment about why would I want it. You don't get souveniers and started laughing. Now, I know why, because several people (THIS IS HEARSAY) have said that they saw the venue re-saling the tickets.

That means it was the clubs money and not Prince.

IT was a long, cold, beautiful experience and yes, I would do it again. Hell, I stood in line longer than that at the Celebration for seven days in a row.

And, I do beleive that Prince might not know what's going on with his camp. I don't think he's being told everything. I know he reads the boards, good or bad, so it's important to voice your honest opinion about your experience. However, if everyone is gonna sugar coat it or dismiss someone's opinion, how is he gonna know what really happened.

I believe that's why they're doing the assigned seating for the shows now. This will put an end to the lines and confusion (unless he has an aftershow/party).

Anyway, that's all I've got to say.

Peace

Ayan!

Chicago misses you! Anywho, I know the feeling. After the E2 incident in my beloved city, I don't like small clubs, except the CD. biggrin I would have started freaking a tadbit as well in NYC. People in the front don't see what's happening in the back. Everyone that died in Rhode Island's club were at the front of the stage.

The same tight squeeze situation happened at another Prince aftershow on April 6, 1993 at the Caberet Metro in Chicago. Since, the after show tickets were only $20, Metro kept packing people in like sardines. I knew it was too many people in the 1100 capacity space since I was being crushed against the stage. I started seeing black spots and was scream at the security that I couldn't breathe. Security had to push people off me and threatened to not let the concert go on if anyone else pushed. They were serious and sat on the edge of the stage watching the crowd the entire concert.

The pushing and me almost blacking ut happened before the band came on stage because we all know that dumbasses like to push just because. However, that was a great concert back in the day. And yes, I waited outside from 9p.m. to Midnight, had frostbite toes which thawed before Prince took the stage at 2:07 a.m. April 6. The thing about the Metro, it has more than one exit. It has two side exits and the people close enough to the stage can always jump on it and run out the stage door where the equipment is taken out.

Clusterfuck is a word Navy SEALs use when a situation goes really bad and people start dying. You were actually in a Goatfuck, which means the situation was tense and could have easily turned into a Clusterfuck. lol

it really does make you think about the situation ... and or the future , etc .... if the capacity was only like 2500 .. and lets say they let in 4500 .... i guess we have no recourse at this point ..... RIGHT .... !!?? even at the club that night - i wonder if anyone came in ... and said .... hmmm... 'this seems like an unsafe situation '....

Incognito,
I'm not quite sure who you are, as I dont recognize the screen name, hit me up at AyanO@aol.com and can talk about my good ole chicago days..
Yeah that Metro Aftershow was another situation of too many people in a small place, yet as just like folks eventually find out if/when the tape cicrulates, the Metro show was well well worth it as it was a freakin GREAT concert... amazing jamming.. at the time one of my fave aftershows to listen to on tape..
Thanks for the defination from the Navy SEALS.. I feel so much smarter right now smile

What's worse is that I've heard that the NYFD was there walking through the crowd at one point...and what? They deemed it safe? Maybe they brought a short end to the concert?

This kinda shit makes my blood boil. I have known so many goddamn sleazy club owners, and they're all motherfucking goddamn sleazy club owners. Last summer, my sister was promoting a drum-and-bass show at a club downtown, and the owner, fully aware that 95% of the club was high on ecstacy and coke and meth and a million other pharmaceuticals, SHUT OFF THE AIR CONDITIONER in the middle of August, and told everyone that it was broken. I kid you not. He then sold PLASTIC CUPS of water for $2 a pop.

His club closed down shortly after, thank God. Oh....and did I mention that he sold most of those drugs to the patrons through his staff?
