Any Hotel Suggestions in NYC? I just got my tickets for the NYC show! Wooooo-hooooo!!!! This will be my 2nd. time seeing Prince. I am taking a train from Albany, NY to Penn Station. Does anyone from NYC have any recommendations of a hotel in the Penn Station area? Thanks in advance!

I don't suggest you stay in a hotel near Penn Station. I would suggest perhaps the Marriott in Times Square (which is the midway point between Penn Station & the Club) or at the Milford Plaza (42nd St & 8th Ave) if there are monetary constraints. The Dumont Plaza on 33rd & 3rd (cross town but a cab ride from everything) is also cool.

Thanks for the info. I ended up getting nervous that I might not find a room so I booked a room at the Wolcott Hotel on W. 31st. Street. It's a couple of blocks from Penn Station. It was $101 for a room. Just curious...why wouldn't you suggest getting a room around Penn Station? Is it somewhat of a bad area?

The most important thing to realize when booking a hotel in NYC is that there are a lot of Hotels in New York where you are not going to get your own bathroom. So you need to at least make certain of that (if it's important to you). I was looking at some reviews of your motel and did you know that at that hotel you turn in your key each time you leave the hotel? http://www.tripadvisor.co..._York.html I would have suggested this hotel which is a little more, but still very budget for NYC: http://www.tripadvisor.co..._York.html But what the heck if you're are only staying for one day it doesn't matter much (especially if you are going to a Prince concert at midnight).

I stayed here when I was in N.Y. just four blocks from the club:

The reason I said to avoid Penn Station as a hotel destination is becuase there really isn't anything around the area other than Madison Square Garden. Yes after hours I would be a little more careful in that area.

The Milford Plaza isnt a bad spot. Very central to Times Square, Penn Station etc. Rooms are kinda smallish and old but what isnt in NYC. Dig if you will...
