no, I clearly implied there will be at least 6 sellouts. And clearly stated there are only 4 sellouts so far. You said Dallas would sell out. Birmingham is now about 95% sold.

The Value City Arena in Columbus has four levels: the 100 & 200 sections comprise of half the capacity and the 300 & 400 sections obviously comprise of the other half. I can still pick up great seats in the 200 level.

wrong - you cannot find a pair of tickets in the 200 level in columbus - all that's left is a few scattered single seats, otherwise the expensive seats are now gone, just as I said they would be. They were down to the last couple of rows yesterday, just as I said.

As for the Vegas shows: both of them are available online and the plaza sections for show #1 & #2 are sold out. However, for one of the shows, it's the annual Tiger Woods Benefit Jam, which I'm sure includes various artists - so not all of the people in attendance will be there for Prince.

They weren't working last night - must have been a glitch. And you're wrong about the benefit jam - see this thread

Exactly. You've implied that two shows have sold out before they might have. But they might not.

Birmingham is now about 95% sold.

I highly doubt that.

Wrong. I pulled up a pair of tickets in the 200 level two hours ago.

Ok but it does say Prince is the Headliner. Benefit concerts always have multiple acts. Maybe they'll announce others later. But even if they don't, many people will be purchasing a ticket to help out the cause and might not be there for Prince at all.

alandail, Why do you even bother justifing yourself to this two bit dipshit who will never have anything positive to say about prince selling out these shows. No matter what you say he is going to say the opposite. Prince will in my opionion will sell out 95% of these shows. That jackass is not going to admit that he is wrong even after the shows are sold out. He is what we call a flunky, yes a freakin flunky.

That's not what you said. I said the expensive seats in columbus were nearly sold out, you said:

I can still pick up great seats in the 200 level.

and what you found were the last few seats in the last row of section 214. Now those are gone - the best seats you can get now are sectiopn 326, row G - the cheaper seats. The floor is sold, the 100 level seats are sold, the 200 level seats are sold, 1/3 of the 300 level seats are sold, and the 400 level seats look to be only a few rows deep.

I sit here and tell you when the seats are about to run out yet you still argue with me. Why does it bother you so much that Prince is selling so many tickets?

Really? I didn't think that the second LA and Reno shows would sell out. They did. I admit I was wrong about those two.

Yes, now it appears that the most expensive tix are gone for this particular show.

This thread is about Prince's sellout shows on his upcoming Musicology tour. Prince has only sold out 4 of the 29 shows so far. IMO, he isn't selling "so many tickets". And for the one millionth time, I don't have a problem with him selling tickets. nuts

just three comments

- I got the plaza is 2/3 of the arena from your own post - now you argue with my using that number in my estimate.

- you say you don't have a problem with Prince's selling lots of tickets, yet your own signature makes fun of lack of sales of records and you argue every single point I make.

- I just started this thread to track the shows that were selling out and talk about the ones getting close - what is so wrong with that?

Every single post you've made on this thread has been negative. Shows are selling out in multiple cities, the expensive seats are selling out in multiple additional cities. Many shows are at near capacity. Some shows are slower selling, but thus far, but overall, ticket sales are far stronger than I would have expected. Over the past few tours, Prince has played smaller and smaller places. He hasn't had a hit single in a decade. Who would have thought that he would start booking these huge arenas and start selling them out? 4 sold out, a few more getting close. Who would have thought he could sell out the staples center in 11 minutes?

And one thing is pretty certain - he's going to sell a lot of tickets next week. The publicity he's generated so far is nothing compared to what he's going to get this coming week with the rock and roll hall of fame induction (although the grammy performance had to do wonders for ticket sales thus far).

It would really do you some good if you would stop calling yourself names.
But I think dipshit is a suitable name for you. Like I said take some more special ed classes at Prince's sold-out concert.

You're full of shit. Where did I say in this thread that the Value City Arena in Columbus has 2/3 of the capacity in the plaza?

Nothing is wrong with that.

Wrong. I'm stating my opinion. If you can't handle that, that's your problem.

alandail said:

You're making it sound like that's a lot of cities, when it's only 3.

alandail said:

It's because he's almost exclusively playing his past hits. So, it's not a surprise to me he's playing arenas.

alandail said:

I knew it would sellout and said it would before it did in another thread.

I figure Prince will play around 60 arena shows by the time the tour's over in June. So, if that's the case, then IMO less than 25% of the shows will sell out.

60?? thats quite alot, how many cities will that cover? i think aerosmiths upcoming tour hits about 38 cities. not all shows have to sellout, i think 70% plus attendance for this tour would be quite an achievement. if you have an average topping 80% i think thats amazing. im talking about prince here though.
aerosmith have toured the US ever year for about 4 years now and last tour was averaging about 80% i think, it was in the 90s but they played some places half capacity so it knocked it down compeltely. we'll see i guess![/quote]

Aerosmith sold well last year because they Toured W/ KISS!!!!! incidentally I was able to take this pic with KISS last year at Madison Square Garden:

I'm going to Bakersfield, CA to my list of shows that I feel will sellout. The reason for doing so, is that Centennial Garden is 3,000 seats smaller than I thought it was.

I wasn't talking about a specific arena, I was talking about a general average

"Plaza" means the main bleacher section in the arena (which makes up roughly 2/3 of the overall capacity of most arena sized venues).

You complain about some rough estimating I do yet offer no estimates of your own. I used your own number to start my estimate. Sure, some shows, like Columbus, have less than 2/3 of the capacity in the plaza/expensive seats. It's more like 50-60% at columbus (the 400 section is kind of short), and the expensive seats did sell out. Other shows have more than 2/3 of the seats in the expensive section, so it likely averages out to a rough estimate.

Well, definitely going solo for the Chicago show. After finally getting my girlfriend to say she would go with me (after she saw the RRHOF show last night), I couldn't get 2 tickets together...so I just got 1 for me. I hate to be selfish but I am going to this show, that is all I care about.

I figure I can try again for 2 tix if they add another show or just head to the Milawukee show.
