Ames, IA - April 8, 2004

Good god, I almost cried when I saw this date on the tour schedule. I'm in graduate school at Iowa State U, and after driving the 3+ hours to Kansas City for the One Nite Alone tour in 2001, not to mention missing out on a number of Paisley Park gatherings when it seemed like every other one was getting cancelled, this is just about the greatest news I've heard lately, Prince-concert-wise.

Yo Prince, after-party in my living room!

I will be at this show also. Driving to Iowa right from the Omaha show. I hope I'm invited to the after-party in your living room! Let me know where the pre and after parties are going to be in Iowa. I'm coming down from Minneapolis. Let's show Prince that Iowa can get funky!

I was actually just thinking about possible aftershow locations tonight for Ames. I don't think it's likely he'd do one here, given that Ames is basically a relatively small college community with a nightlife that consists of the 6 or 7 bars in campustown. BUT! One of the bars, People's, which is right on the corner of campustown, is set up as a performance venue and generally hosts local and regional acts every week. If an aftershow were to happen, I would bet this is the place.

Another cool location would be the Maintenance Shop in the basement of our student union. It used to be an actual maintenance workshop in the mid 1900's, and eventually got turned into a small venue in the early 80's I think. They are always having good acts come in. I remember seeing Victor Wooten there in 1998 (maybe 1999), and it was such a great show in such an intimate venue.

Seriously, I'll cream my pants if he does an aftershow in Ames, and I will be there!

I am also in Omaha and hitting the Omaha, Ames and KC shows. Let me know if anyone needs any info! Its sooo cool that he's doing multiple shows so close together on this tour. I've never seen multiple shows on one tour with him before. I'm so stoked. I'll post any info I hear on an Omaha afterparty (if there is one).
