Wondering if anyone has attended any concerts with their kids and what their experience was like.

yes, i took my young son, had a blast, the girls around us thought it was great to see such a lil guy shakin it and singin along to prince he had a great time, i am not however taking either of my children this time around, this ones for mommy, but, if he comes back soon, i believe i will take both of them i think its a great thing to share your love of music with your children, and these lucky kids have been raised on lots of love, happiness, and a never-ending supply of prince so, it kinda comes natural to them

oh, the other thing i do with them, its kinda silly, but i think its cool, when we are on a trip in the car, i start a game of 'name the prince songs' --- that means, we take turns naming as many songs as possible one at a time, the one who cant think of another is out..... i swear i have the most well versed 6 year old girl on the planet she can take on some of the best out there, but hey, im busy raising another generation of prince lovers

my advice, take the kids....you will be glad you did

At the Glendale show, I saw a girl who I thought was between 6 and 8 years-old in the front row. When Prince saw her he gave a big smile and pointed her out to Candy Dulfer.
I brought along my mother and sat next to a young lady who was also with her mother. Granted not KIDS, but a family affair.

This is my one peeve I have with the club this tour...

If indeed they want it to be a family affair, then WHY
LIMIT CLUB MEMBER TICKETS TO 2? Me, my wife, and
2 kids wanted to go, but i can only get 2 tickets...i'm
not buying another membership for this, as some have
suggested.
I understand limiting them for the ONA tour, because those
were held at smaller venues, but this is an ARENA tour...more
seats.

I just took my 10 year old to the Dallas Show.

He really liked it. Even more than he thought he would.

He was a little shy about Dancing tho.

I am going to San antonio, and Houston, and i guess back to Dallas and he wants to go again.

It is tough, Prince says to bring the family. I can only take one at a time.

I wouldn't have a problem paying for another membership. to be able to purchase more tickets.But the Club says memberships in the same house don't work.

Well I have an 11 year old girl. So glad I went to the live feed. I wasnt going to take her to the concert in my city(nashville"adults only" lol). But after I saw the feed, and Memphis was added to the tour I had to get tickets so I could take her. Kids nowadays needs to know about real music and hear it live. She is a great trumphet player so I really do think she will appreciate it. Plus this will be a mini vacation for us to visit Memphis!

I'm going to three nights in St. Paul in June. I'm going to take my six year old boy to one of em and still have two adult nights! He's been to a few shows before. We took him to KISS last year and we all wore makeup! So cute. And he saw Ringo Starr when he was three (with Sheila E. on drums!) I think it'll be fun. He likes Prince. He's been to Prince shows at both Target Center in Minneapolis and at Paisley Park when he was in his Mom's belly!!

At the Phoenix/Glendale show there was an 11 or 12 year old girl in the front row and when people got to go on stage the security lifted her over the barrier and sent her up the stairs. I think Prince gave her a little hug when he went by her on stage.

I'm bringing my 12 year old!! She's been listening to Prince since she was an embryo!!

As I was saying before my boss came to my desk...

I'm taking my daughter, she loves Prince and he's not doing any of the sexy stuff so why not! Never to early to expose the kiddies to some real music!

My 10 year old daughter attended the Staples Center opener with me last week. We sat in the front row behind Chance's keyboard setup (pretty much in a corner by the catwalk) and she had an absolute blast!! She was very much concerned at first because of how high the stage was, so she didn't think she would be able to see anything. I spent a lot of time telling her that it would be okay because Prince would be sure to sing right in front of us on the catwalk. And, to make her day, a cameraman set up right in front, so Prince made sure to sing, play guitar right up front!!

At the end of the show, the security guard who was taking care of our section came over to my girl and said "you knew all the words to the songs!"

My girl was blown away once again by the muscianship of the entire band. We couldn't see John on drums or Rhonda doing her thing. But, she stared in awe everytime Prince played guitar (she took lessons all last year cuz she wants to play just like him!). And, she was SO grateful that he played "Sometimes it Snows" and ""Let's Go Crazy" --two of her favorite songs ("Mom, mom, is going to do the solo just like the movie??." (And mom's grateful for "Let's Work" but my little one doesn't know about that yet.

She was also blown away by having Candy and Greg playing in front of us as well (she really missed seeing Maceo!). You see, she joined band earlier this year and is playing clarinet. Now, she's always wanted to be in the band (mostly because her older cousins all played), but she was especially inspired after the Aladdin show in Vegas and Maceo's playing. She wants to move on to the sax as soon as she can, but I'd like her to master the clarinet first.

One warning for all you parents: take a pair of earplugs for you kids. Being near the front can hurt their ears for the rest of their lives. I know that the security guards at San Diego's Sprots Arena carry extra ones, but the Staples Center guards didn't.

I have taken my son to see Prince twice. He saw the Hit and Run Tour when he was 7, and he saw the Rainbow Children tour when he was 9 (third row NPGMC tix, too). The sound was not anywhere near too loud.

I'm taking my daughter to San Antonio (she'll be 8 on June 8), and I'm taking the whole family to Houston.

It doesn't really matter if we think "it's not too loud" -- it still is. I got the following quote from WebMD.com http://my.webmd.com/hw/he...bar=tf3056

Just do your kids a favor, and take a pair of earplugs for them. Better yet, take a pair for yourself too! You can still hear very well even with them on. You think the people on stage aren't wearing them? From the front row, I could see Prince's ears were well protected.

Oh yea. My son is definitly gonna be wearing earplugs!!

Make sure she gets in a good pee and a dump before the band hits th stage. Otherwise, you'll be hiking to the ladies' room right as they break into the one song you've been dying to hear.

Eye made my acount on the.org a few days ago, so I could not post this
4 awhile. Here's my 1st tip on the.org..... It isn't short, bcuz
Eye add some coments while Eye was waiting 2 post.

Prince did 8 concerts in his 2002 Japan tour(Yes, we'r Japanese Family),
but only one holiday concert was held at Hamamatsu Act Theater. So, we
thought the theater must b the best place 4 r family 2 attend 2gether.
---Eye & wife could go other dates without r children, thanx 2 their
grandmothers. We feel we can't take r little children 2 EVERY con-
certs, it is 2 tough(labor & ticket is not cheap)--- The place is far
from we live, but it is the smallest city in Japan tour so Eye thought
NPGMC seats will b available 4 r children(Eye & my wife r NPGMC members,
so we could buy 4 thickets @ that time/now, is it impossible?/Bcuz of
cheaper membership fee or increased members?) & Eye confirmed the theater
that children r permitted 2 enter(no age limitation & the venue even
have a special room 4 children if they get trouble or begin 2 cry, etc.).

After the long wait, we could manage 2 get right edge seats but front &
second rows. We brought earplugs 4 children(& NPGMC stuff also asked me
b4 the show whether we need earplugs or not.) Prince began 2 play jam of
"Let's Work" @ the soundcheck. My 6 years old(@ the time) daughter got
her groove on(she's always the best dancer in my family). Eye felt that
Prince(who standing opposite side) smiled 4 her & Eye wasn't dreamin'.
While he's playing next song "Peach" on his guitar, he called my daughter
with his finger! Eye lost my words & took my daughter 2 around center
of front row but didn't know what 2 do. Then, friend of mine lifted my
daughter on the stage & she started 2 dance & incite people(she opened
her arms & jumped up & down b4 the audience). Eye & my wife could not
believe my eyes... Then, my 4 years old son also got on the stage but
he was busy 4 worrying about his sister's "star-shaped ornament" was
droppin' form the bar(than dancing). Mr.Greg Boyer was kind enough 2
pick up her small star from the floor though he was playing his horn @
the time... Rhonda was smiling, & Mr.Takumi gave them two small purple
maracas(Prince Logo on it)2 play with. Prince was playing his guitar
on left side of the stage, & after the song(pretty long jam)was over,
he preteneded 2 fall down on the cushions on the side & it's funny.
Eye think my children & Prince didn't get so close on the stage, so
when they returned 2 r seats, Eye asked my daughter that "What did U
feel on stage with Prince?". She replied with big simle "Prince's side
face is so cool!","It was long song & Eye tried hard 2 dance, so Eye got
sweat!" Then, they began 2 sleep bcuz they r exhausted 2 dance.

She also experienced several dates of 1996 the gold experience Japan tour
in her mummy's belly. So that might b the reason she can get her groove
on (^ ^) <--- is Japanese online smile mark... We really love the promo
video of MUSICOLOGY & hope that Prince & The NPG coming 2 Japan with
MUSICOLOGY TOUR! (^ ^)/))) <---waving my hand 4 Prince

I've taken my 10 yr old to around 20 concerts in the last 3 years to round out his musical education and NONE were more kid friendly than last nights show in Indy. We were in the front row (thanks npgmc)and had a great view. John Blackwell came around before the show started and handed my boy a drumstick. Every time that Mike Scott came on or off stage he made a concerted effort to shake my kids hand or give him a high 5. He even slipped him a few guitar picks over the evening and talked to the little aspiring guitarist durring downtime. When it came time for the dance party on stage, Prince nodded for the security to help me boost Daniel over the railing. Candy paid special attention to him and made sure that she led him by the hand(the only time that I was wanting to trade places with him)to the center of the stage and Prince gave him a guitar pick> Rev Scott even made sure that he was returned to the proper side of the stage afterward> All in all a great experience for a great kid>
