Y'all probably already know this since the shows have been like this for a while but I called to check - they aren't allowing cell phones in the venue. Just an FYI...

Apart from the country where the Fillmore is, why would they do this? confuse

what? I've been to plenty of shows at the Fillmore and this have never been the case. Is this just a special Prince thing - now that phones can take pix, etc...?

seriously.. who cares?

I am there to see a show. If there is some kind of emergency need for me to have a phone with me at all times I wouldnt be in a concert hall to begin with.

leave the phone in the car and enjoy the show

there were no pxt phones allowed at sydney either...lucky they didn't notice my thumb over the 'camera lense' when they checked it...but even so - my picture with john Blackwell after the souncheck wasn't really worth having anyway...the quality isn't great at all...the strangest thing was that at the main gig - the security was a joke..at the soundcheck it was like a friggin prison-check...I don't c the harm in taking a photo...JB didn't mind...but then I guess as P says...he gets paid to have his photo taken...I guess thats y the tour was so cheap 2 get in 2 (not)...we weren't paying 4 a portrait pic each now were we...just the music smile

I think he was doing this before the rise of camera phones but yes, it is a Prince thing (I don't blame him either, I just like to be prepared)...

Uhh, anyone who normally carries a cell phone? neutral Most who carry them wouldn't give it a second thought - would you like to get stopped @ the door for something so minor? Probably not smile

I've seen people with too large a purse get shut down by security - P is serious. And not everyone is driving - I'm taking a cab & would be totally screwed if I didn't know this...

I completely agree with you piemeltje...
The worst thing being at a concert is being confronted with people with cell phones. Those people are the most irritating figures at concerts...enjoy the show!!! adn if you want to do somthing else please stay at home so you won't spoil someone else his concert

EXACTLY! Most of us carry our cellies - especially to call a cab company afterwards (for all you non-city livin' folk!), and I would be hella salty if I was turned away at the door because I had it and no one had told me. And I for damn sure wouldn't leave my phone outside and *hope* it would be there when I got out. I definitely appreciate the 411!

And I'm the only one with a 'plain' GSM? (i.e. no camera gadget)

I remember the shows at the San Jose State Event Center in 1997.Right before they started letting us inside,it was announced that cellphones were not allowed.Prince doesn't like the idea of cellphones at his shows.

As it turns out they did let people w/ cell phones in but I think you had to check them (in the coat check I guess?). Saw 2 guys who were calling people & holding their phones up get snagged by security. They were on it last night! But where the fuck were they when I was surrounded by drunk guys?? mad
