If I only care about tickets, when should I join the NPGMC?

Since we're all expecting a tour this year, I want to maximize my options. Maybe some present club members can advise me.

Based on past experience, what's the lag time between joining NPGMC and being able to order tickets? How organized are they?

How quickly do member presale tickets sell out? Can I log in simultaneously from different computers to get all my tickets at once?

Is a club member limited to the number of tickets per show, per tour (different nights or cities)?

Do you have to be at the rehearsal to benefit from club seating? Are there usually assigned seats, or are there still open seats saved, so you can still be seated in the NPGMC area if you arrive just before the show?

Also, how do they identify club members if there's an aftershow?

Thanks.

I would join up as soon as a tour is announced in your town.

there shouldn;t be any lag at all in joining and being able to order tickets but Hey this IS npgmc we are talking about.

I joined a few days before the presale of my show and I had no problems.
Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

I did the same thing as FunkyStrange: as soon as I heard he was going to play in my city, I joined right away & I think the presale happened the next day & I had no problems.

For the presale here in Honolulu, we were allowed to purchase 2 tickets & it went real smooth. I can't speak for other larger cities with bigger fanbases though. The SF show for the 14th sold out pretty quickly for the members.

We were given assigned seats for the concert but were allowed to sit anywhere for the soundcheck. After the soundcheck, they gave us wristbands to get into the aftershow.

I've Xperienced several F***-ups from Prince's organisation in the past so when I went to the concert, I was fully armed with printouts of my membership confirmation & my ticket purchase confirmation. Surprisingly, I didn't need to whip them out: everything was well-organised & my name was actually on The List! Imagine that.

what funkystrange said.

Also, for a full-fledged tour, wating till you hear an announcement is fine. You get two tickets per member, basically you and a guest. Athough you can go to more than one night if you want. And you should get a laminate pass or something to get you into any aftershow.

That makes sense, and he always hits D.C. when he tours, right?

Also, is it the new year yet, according to NPGMC's calendar?

If you buy a membership for the sole reason of the advance ticket sales perk before any tour dates are even announced, then you're really setting yourself up for disappointment. But hey, whatever.

Honestly, you might get a better seat with TicketMaster...Hawaii members can attest to this.
Also, this tour won't have soundcheck access.
So really, you're paying $25 for the afterparty...if there is one.

It's your money if you want to waste it...

HotThang, are you certain about this info from Hawaii? Cause several of my friends want to go (instead of just one guest with npgmc) and we want to be seated next to eachother ofcourse. Maybe ticketmaster is more than acceptable for decent tix? By the way, what are the odds that the tour goes through Chicago??

Wishuheaven (sp?) has reported several times that in Hawaii, members did not get the best seats. And with the random seating assignments, I can't say for certain that you and your guest will be seated next to each other. Since the arenas are fairly large, you should probably get great seats with TicketMaster if you purchase as soon as they go on sale to the general public.

If you just want tickets for 1 show and that's it ..... maybe for you it's better not to join.

For me being able to browse the NPG Music Club website is worth the $25.00 ..... It's the coolest website I've been to in awhile. It's like your in a building and Virtually walking around in it. Lots of areas to explore..... Plus you get all the perks. concert tickets, music, photos, etc ..

Love that avatar! where's it from?

Join NPGMC ASAP cuz when tix went on sale in LA for his show after the Grammy's they sold out in like 40 seconds....cuz they had tix for the members before they gave them to (as one person on this site stated) Ticketbastard (sorry that's too funny)
