Selling member tickets on ebay - should it be allowed

Is this guy just asking to have his membership cancelled ?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eB...gory=16122

It's not like he's asking the ticket price, seems he wants $500 minimum

Thoughts ?

Why wouldn't it be !
If I bought a classic car yesterday for $ 100,-, am I not allowed to sell it today for the price I like to have for it ?
I front sometimes, but U know, this is as quiet as it's kept...
Listen, I just gotta get outta here, that's all

So you think scalping should be considered ethical AND legal ?

Membership is a privilege and this person is taking advantage of it. People like this will just ruin it for all of the other members. I hope they loose their membership.

Ethical not realy but legal yes !
If Prince doesn't want people to make a proffit of his talents he could have a price variety in his tickets. Tickets for $ 60,- will be sold out in 1 minute the tickets for $500,- will take a few days ! If you missed the $60,- ticket sale, you can always decide to go for the $500,-
I wouldn't pay a scalper $500,- for a ticket and neither would I pay that too Prince !
A scalper is never ethical for his purpose is making money over two parties backs (P & the fan's).
But if you decide to buy from a scalper you know this so you're not ethical either !
You have a choice and therefor I see no reason why this shouldn't be legal !

It would depend what the legally valid terms of the car purchase were.

Equally, if you purchased a car as a result of belonging to a classic car club, and club membership laid down certain rules regarding such purchases, then you could expect your membership to be reviewed if you flouted the rules.

Isn't there a club rule that stops people from making a profit on the tickets ?

Prince has pushed almost all the music club member to get used to the 100$ mark for tickets. If he goes for 200$ little by little you would soon get used to buy 200$ tickets for any of his shows. So i don't think this scalper is so far out of point.

That seller/auction was "shut down" by the NPGMC and their membership was suspended as a result. Plus they won't get to go to the show they had the tickets for.

Ummmmm...maybe the ticket was sold, hence the invalid msg. I know two people that got their tix from eBay. Get with the real and outta the dreamworld. This ain't the matrix. Unless you're saints, and I know you're not, who are you to get down on someone selling their tix? Right or wrong, it's like trying to stop the rain. It's going to happen. And how the hell would NPGMC know who was selling the tix to cance their membership? I mean, come on.
I saw members selling tix while I was in line for the show. I saw someone shell out $220 for tix. I wouldn't pay that, but I ain't about to tell another adult he's wrong for doing so.
Would you freaks confront them in line and give them your thoughts on the subject? If you did you would most likely be the recipients of nice big can of whoop ass. wink

Of course it should be allowed. It's a free market society.

If I buy a car off of someone for $1000, I can turn around and sell it for $8000 if someone is willing to pay that much for it. Why should it be different for a concert ticket??
