To be fair, it should be known that Prince is listed as one of the "Corporate" sponsors in the Family Jamm program, and the Love 4 One Another Charities is in the "Donors" list, therefore, it seems he was being very supportive of the event in his own way.

There's no way anybody on this website can know for sure why Prince did not perform last night, and I don't think anybody should assume to know. Not to mention, harping on it takes away from some of the great moments of the show. I mean...seeing "Madhouse" perform live???

Would it have been great seeing Prince perform last night? No brainer, when would it not be? But I in no way feel cheated that he didn't. I'd have to say that anybody who does feel cheated has only themselves to blame for building these expectations up themselves.
All 7 and we'll watch them fall.

I'm sure he wrote her a check, but so what? He was in L.A., he should've been there for his friends. I can't imagine anything more important or any excuse acceptable. Sometime you just gotta do what it takes to be there for people, even if it sucks.

But I don't know him, so whatever, he's got his reasons...

(Actually... maybe he thought performing those tunes with the Rev would hurt the L.A. market potential for a greatest-hits show next year, or compare unfavorably.)

Hello there,

the kid lost a chance there... .

Rembember everybody is free to make a choice and that means everybody including ourselves.

We could listen to someone elses music, but we do not.
We could spent our energy in a different manner but we do not.
We could accept that the revolution is past untill that day they jam together... .

Freedom of choice, or not to choose... .

I do regret that he did not show... .

No hate, thank you Sheila E. for putting this together, we do not now what effect it has, neither for the children, nor for our expectations.

Best regards,

Juize, Hamburg Germany

i am sorry but I think many people are talking about things they don't know. How can you blame Prince for not comming to Jam with his friend ? maybe to him they are not friends at all ? Maybe they had some hard figths when they end playing together, you cannot know the relationship between then, so stop complaining like this. Apart from this point I can understand some people are disapointed because they wanted Prince to show up, but I think this is a lack of respect for the revolution and the others...

Prince has never been eager to get involved in something like this. Remember USA for Africa? He'd rather do his own thing by himself. He does his caritative things in a low key manner. No attraction intended. And maybe he didn't wanted to elipse the other by his presence. A lot of people went there to see him but it was not a prince concert. Maybe something will happen later on the other end...

i think calling him an 'asshole' might be a bit harsh.

it's not like we don't already know he's quirky like that. he doesn't seem to like trying to live up to other people's expectations or something. just speculating.
