We want P-Funk to tour Australia again soon...
Give up the funk, we want the funk... Listening to their greatest hits album, it is amazing, 20, 30 years ahead of its time... Really like Bop Gun too, & Flash Light... Amazing pioneering stuff, no1 else had done it before... I wonder if P-Funk ever topped the charts in the U.S. or were they seen as too radical for mainstream record companies to promote?

I'm not homophobic at all, I just made the comment I thought you might be from a convict city, where all that same-sex stuff went on in the early days, tho they were mostly straight...Don't have any phobias...Each to their own...

yes the the indigenous people of this country are treated like royalty...showered with tokenism and the like...do you have ANY idea what has been done to them over the years? ... probably not...because it's NOT RECOGNISED...until the government of the day OFFICALLY recognises what's gone on... things can't begin to move forward...you think a few welfare handouts fixes the problem? you are sadly mistaken
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
we live in hope that the Labor government will be returned next year, and welfare for all will be increased...we do not want to end up like the U.S., where they don't even have unemployment benefits or medicare...and who knows, one day we might have a treaty, or republic...we live in hope...things change...keep the faith

Well this thread is really going from strength to strength!
David, not sure if Labour would really do much to "save the day" with regard to fostering a more open, caring and tolerant attitude. Remember that Beazley supported Howard's harsh stance on refugees because he was too weak to take a political risk...despite the fact that they were going to lose the election anyway. But having said that they certainly couldn't be any worse than the current government, and you are right about the risks to universal health care etc. If we continue blindly following the US models we will end up with 3rd rate health care and welfare systems.

No-one is making that assumption, you half-baked northern feral. All that was claimed was that the awesome acoustics at the RLA, on the 2nd night, made an incredible gig even better. Time to retreat back up into those hills and get back to farming weed, dude.

Read the first few posts again Ducky. You chimed in at number 4 saying that the venue doesn't make the show. But no-one had actually implied that the venue was the most important factor. My position is that there are three key factors - musician/s, venue and audience, and here in Melbourne we were fortunate enough to witness all three at their best on the 22nd Oct. and those are fantastic shots by the way...it hurts me so to be flamed the way i have been on this thread
Your first contribution: "...that's just stupid, stupid, stupid...". You have largely posted inanities and misinterpreted other people's positive comments. Plus, you're from QLD. What would you expect? as i've said...just what this place needs...another couple of fucking nut jobs
Well, it's good to see that we'll be in excellent company with you Duck Wonder.

The 22/10 concert was amazing.
Besides they don't have enough money in Qld to build a decent venue. RLA was purpose-built for concerts. They are just jealous becoz they kno they are inferior... What the hell...Life goes on... As Bobby McFerrin said, don't worry, be happy...
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
All these silly comments by detractors of 22/10 concert remind me of being back in secondary school when people would make lame jokes about dicks and bums...pure nobodies...if people are fans of Prince they should not make negative comments about the concert...so they don't count
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Completely agree David. They don't count at all. And what's more, they probably can't even count at all. IQ drops off rapidly as you move north from the NSW border.
They have no money to build a decent venue because their economy is hampered by years of entrenched bureaucratic corruption. They'll probably elect Pauline Hanson as their next premier. How fortunate we are to live in Melbourne - the World's most liveable city!

Best prince concert I've seen was at the Mill City Music Festival in mpls. I got to see the time on one stage, then Graham Central station and Prince right after that on a different stage. That was the shit. It was outside in downtown minneapolis and it was truly fucking awesome!! The mayor of minneapolis presented prince w/ the key to the city. And he played the PRETTY MAN w/ Maceo Parker on the sax. [This message was edited Wed Nov 12 20:14:59 PST 2003 by zachypoo] brickhouse boys: http://www.myspace.com/brickhouseboys

Ha ha, australians are funny. Duck wonder... quacks me up. You guys are great. Rod Laver. Brilliant. “If I can shoot rabbits/then I can shoot fascists”
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Well, Rod Laver was the greatest tennis player of all time, from Oz, he won 2 Grand Slams, that is, he won all the four major tournaments in a year, twice. Noone else has ever done that, I think it was 1961 and 1969. And in those days, sport was not professional so they did not have the access to health care that they have today...So yes, Rod Laver is a special venue...We all know Rod was the greatest player in tennis in history...And the Prince concert, the 2nd nite, (22/10) was the best I have ever seen at that venue... Actually, the arena, and the sound are very important. Ask the man himself, and he'll tell you so. It's the same difference between a bootleg cd, and a cd that was recorded the way the artist wants it to come across. To say that sound doesn't matter only says that you may not have the ear that some of the rest of us have if you can't notice such a thing. That's not dissin' ya, but it is what it is. Peace man!!!

yes i had a wank there once...it was superb

Geesh, this Mr Bliss isn't a very happy guy!! He's the guy that flips you off in traffic, because he knows he can get away, just like here. Chill dude, that's not what Prince, and his vibe are about!!! It's not worth the stress you create yourself!
The best Prince show is certainly debatable, but I loved XENOPHOBIA in June of 2002 at Paisley Park. I had to miss one night due to a very good friend getting married, but the other six nights rocked!! The acoustic set that he followed Norah Jones with should DEFINITELY be released!! He was on fire that night, and I think there's something to be said about knowing that you will be sleeping in your own bed after each show for a week. Being in your own house as he mentioned several times had to be a really big charge for him. Thanks again for sharing your message of peace and love, and your music with us that week Prince. Hopefully we all left Paisley Park a little better person than when we arrived. You da man!!! Chris McCue Fishman PS Hey Bobby in San Fran!! MrBliss said: AntonL said: MrBliss said:

P-Funk!! Don't know if they ever topped the charts here, but they sure were popular where I lived in Kansas, and we were listening to what I don't care for anymore, stuff like Ted Nugent, and other head bangin stuff. But the Funkmeister still rocks! Last time I saw him he wore me out a couple of years ago. Heck, the guy literally played for over 5 1/2 hours!!! Absolutely amazing that he's still got that kind of energy!!
