Go ahead...but I doubt that it possesses accoustic qualities that would do justice to the name.

Least it isn't sitting on my shoulders. I don't know...we post a few harmless positive comments about an undeniably brilliant stadium venue - best in the country by a long shot - and all we get is these childish purile clowns with their childish purile dick and fart jokes. Pathetic.

I suppose these childish inane comments should come as no surprise coming from a little yellow duck with a sailor's cap and a guitar tucked under its wing...

No, but Brisbane and the Gold Coast are a version of hell. No acoustically-designed stadium venues up there... Hard to even find a decent coffee and someone who speaks English...at least without saying "hey" or "but" at the end of every sentence.

He probably just had to slow things down so the locals could keep up.

Hi David,

All I know is that the 2nd melb concert in the (acoustically superb) Rod Laver Arena would have been very hard to top by the other Australian concerts. I mean, sure he played for almost 3 hrs in Brisbane, but they don't have anything that compares to the RLA up there (nor, it goes almost without saying, do they have anything remotely as good in Sydney). The man and the band were undoubtedly at the top of their game. Combine this with the crystal clear acoustics we experienced in Melbourne, especially on the second night, and I don't see how it could be topped, other than by an aftershow in a small venue. But as far as big stadium concerts go, I don't think it could get any better for me.

Anton

---

I saw D+P Tour 3 times in Melbourne in 1992, saw the 1st concert in Sydney on the 24/10/03 and then saw the Brisbane show on the 27/10/03.

The Brisbane show last week was the best of all for me. Smaller intimate feel, no rushing to the front and great set list. Prince was also in a great mood.

Sounds like a great show, George, no disputing that. I was just stirring up a bit of interstate rivalry with the earlier comments which were largely tongue in cheek (and Duck Boy was easily stirred). I only went to the Melbourne concerts so I can't compare shows between cities.

The RLA is definitely the best stadium venue in the country though, no doubt about that. wink

Ditto, and I gotta agree. The hyped crowd had alot to do with the first Sydney show being so good. The 2nd Melbourne show as a performance was amazing, but they were all really great. Of course the highlight of the tour was The Basement, never ever dreamed I would be a part of something that great.

At the end of the day, Prince would have played roughly the same setlist in each capital, so you would get largely the same show. It was all great, amazing stuff, a real showman, like James Brown, and we hope he returns soon.
Can they, the promoters, bring out Brown too, and P-Funk?
The sheer euphoria after the gig (22/10) was amazing...It was something like Woodstock, people joining together...The problem is music is so corporate and packaged and marketed these days, people become suspicious and wary, and Prince is an antidote to that...he is a singular genius...
Cannot believe it was real, what was seen and heard, and have seen many, many concerts...
It is interesting if you visit the U.S. and see how blacks are treated, like scum, unless they play basketball, but if they visit Oz as musicians they are treated like demi-gods...We look up to them because they come from America, but in the U.S. they are treated like criminals, unless they are famous...

George and some of the P-funk crew already toured here this year, hopefully they will make a return trip soon!

and australia has such a clean history when it comes to aboriginal people

but Australia has a strong welfare system...
for Pete's sake if you pretend you have a sore back here you can get $10K a year, on a pension, and the Aborigines are well looked after too today...we have a welfare system and medicare system the americans don't have... we have low-cost universal health care...and that applies to everyone... so it is silly to complain about aborigines today...nothing like our welfare system exists in the U.S...
also the unemployment benefits do not phase out here, so don't pretend the aborigines or others on welfare are treated badly...
