This thread should be re-titled:

"Why Prince MUST come back to Australia"

The reason is after his 1992 tour (which was seen by far more than this tour), his presence to the general public in this country has been minimal (hence, trouble in some cities in selling out venues, had to reduce ticket prices), so there were alot of non listeners and casual fans that were BLOWN AWAY with what they saw in the last week. So many now are hooked.

Can u imagine if a tour for Australia 2004 was announced?

Those non fans who went, who are now hooked will buy tickets for sure, and the word of mouth to those who didn't see it will buy tickets to see what all the fuss is about.
Instead of 2 concerts per city, we might see 3 - 4 depending on how quickly he gets back here

It would be a very smart business move on Prince's part if he returns ASAP (and the after effects of the concert, record sales, etc, etc).

Ally/dna, I totally agree with the sentiment! It was a very barren 11 years!!

Jonty, I had a somewhat similar experience by the sounds of things. Two weeks prior to the Melbourne shows my girlfriend of 3 1/2 years had barely listened to Prince at all. Following a special 2-week pre-concert preparation schedule and after 1 soundcheck she was into it. And after 2 concerts (especially night 2 when we were all blown away) she was REALLY into it!

I know what u mean Antonl, when i 1st mentioned prince to my wife she was like yeah i heard some of his stuff like 1999 and rasberry beret on the radio, then i started pulling out the albums and playing songs like adore, beautiful ones, when 2 r in love, insatiable plus i made her sit through the Purple Rain movie and the rave unto dvd, and she never realised how many songs and albums he had actually released.i think thats when she started to become a fan.

p.s was just reading through my post and realised that maybe i brainwashed my wife a bit...oops

All the above reasons are spot on. I moved out here to Australia 8 years ago from the UK and most of the friends I have made here were not into Prince but having been to my parties, living with me, driving with me etc etc they had to listen or put plugs in their ears!

Some of them had their interest piqued and decided to to go along and see what it was all about - I now have requests to loan albums etc etc. 12 out of the 15 that went are converts! Almost as good as Whiskas!

Just like a fine wine the man has gotten better with age. I'm still in awe of the talent I witnessed last week - most of it at arms-length. Aren't artists supposed to get worse the older they get? Their voices harsher, their playing slower?

Not Prince. He said in his 'Today' show interview that his experience keeps getting better with time...I believe him.

I hope he comes back to Oz soon...but for me the funk now has no geographical bounderies - if he plays Europe or the US I'm there - somehow smile

My need for the funk is now too great...I'm addicted, obsessed, whatever you wanna call it.

And 2 think I've just met my soulmate at a Prince aftershow last week is just way too cool...

Bring on the FUNK!

My friend who needed his ticket paid for before he'd allow his ass to be dragged to the show is now hooked. Burning all my CDs and all. Came out ranting about how P is the most underrated guitar player of all time... and my mate is a guitar teacher at the con, so he was suitably impressed.

When he comes back (positive thinking) it has to include Perth and Adelaide. I know so many people in Perth who would loved to have gone - including my brother who was at least able to share Purple Rain through my mobile.

We'd probably need some of the old hits again though.

Prince liked the weather in Brisbane... Perth's great too - but less humid smile!

11 years was most definately too long to wait. I had basically given up and whew!...at 7.30 in the morning 4 weeks b4 the shows I get a phone call telling me the man is coming back! Was I blown away or what?!!! And yeh I agree with him coming to Perth and Adelaide too. Being from Adelaide to see him here at home would be wild and we would, surprisingly, blow the roof off the house! I get a little tired of artists forgetting Perth and Adelaide. Spent a minor fortune on this man...'bout time he came to my house!! Ive been to his house in Minnieapolis so its time to rock my house...well, soon anyway! Next year please Prince??!!
