All The Critics Love PRINCE In Brisbane!... brought 2 u by RonnyRon a.k.a "Just anutha ol' pimp".
Typing this as my lovely lady Esperancia makes us pancakes - breakfast at 1.15 pm y'all... YESTERDAY...Long day, long nite, worth every penny, worth every minute. Lotsa music, lotsa love, friends and fams 4 life. We started at 4.30 pm, came outta the aftershow at 4.45 am this morning! (Talk about livin' 2 see The Dawn huh?) THE SOUNDCHECK - "Girls & Boys", The Commodore's "Brick House", Santana's "Oye Como Va", "Dorothy Parker", Smokey Robinson's "Ooh Baby Baby" (also made famous by Linda Ronstadt - RR - gosh I'm good) and our new friend PaulBlack gettin' the chance of a lifetime - singin' AND dancin' 2 MJ's "Billie Jean", then shaking PRINCE's hand! Well done buddy, all the best and c u in December. THE CONCERT - so many hits, so many time...(close to 3 hours!!!) Have 2 agree with the very cool Andrewm7 - "The Ride" was an absolute highlight! as well as the hits + "Life O' The Party", Sly & The Family Stone's "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)", Sam & Dave's "Soul Man" sung in tandem with the mighty Chance Howard. Special shout out 2 Mr.Blackwell, Renato, RAD, Greg, MACEO-O-O!!! and Rhonda - The Funkiest Woman on The Planet! Thanx 2 PRINCE 4 welcoming me up on stage during "DAYS of WILD", didn't wanna upstage u brother... SYKE! Now u take that smokin' band and go b FONKEE someplace else ya hear? From 1 pimp 2 anutha... Prince really needs to find some new material. its great that you u have seen prince so many times that you can be tired of this shit. but remember he hasnt been down our way for over a decade, and as everyone at the shows had a great time and loved all that stuff, u sound a bit wanky dissing it so much, particularly when you yourself have repeated the same comment over a couple of threads, maybe its u who needs th new lyrics. no offence by the way, put on the pod boot, sip a guiness and chill out. Hardly any of us in Brisbane have ever seen him play live before (unless we went to the Syd and Melb shows, which I couldn't afford) so it was original to my ears at least! | |

Sounds like an excellent night! I think it's great that each city on the tour got its own aftershow. Prince and the band seem to have had a fun time over here... who knows - perhaps they'll come back sooner rather than later. | |

The crowd were surprisingly very vocal and cool, of course they had 2 'loca' Melbourne chix in front 2 lead the way (Kylee and ChaCha). It was all good, then, the aftershow blew us all away! Before the show, RonnyRon was worried that the quiet Brisbane crowd would mean we'd get a quiet show. Brisbane's a sweet town, but last night:
" ...girl it aint no use, might as well get loose, work your body like a whore" The crowd was wild and so into it. I think they went against playing the encore game and stayed on and played... just one encore but the concert went till close to midnight. By the end, the whole crowd was so spent, you could see noone could get up the energy to ask for one more again. I'm back home in Perth now and still flying! | |
