My friends said there was a VIP list. Could that be a list of NPGMC members, or at least those that had bought tickets to the stadium shows? Likely, knowing Australia, the list was of pretentious fuck-heads with connections 'in the know'.
Life it ain't real funky unless you got that orgPop.

I was there, outside the door. Setlist included a couple of jazz standards, Shhh.. instrumental and long jams. Unbelievably they played "When the Saints Go Marching In". Total of 45mins show. Very disappointing that only about 10 people managed to get in, original 70 person guest list scrapped by Prince because he liked the smaller stage at the venue better than the larger one, and instead a handful of people near the doors were selected to be let in.
Would love to hear how it was from someone on the inside.

yeah it really pissed me off.
waited for six hours

the was about 10 people that snuck in and another ten who were picked from a swarming angry mob

those other ten were basically girls and good looking girls and good looking guys.

hardly anyone in there knew what he was playing

I'm off the net for 12 hours (traveling from Syd to Melb) and look what I miss out on! Doh!

It's a shame that real fans did'nt make it in last night...I hope someone here on the org saw the show.

I'm hoping better treatment for NPGMC members if he does a full on aftershow over the next few days!

My first post. Hello all...
It is very disappointing to hear that us fans missed out. It was apparently annouced on a popular radio station (nova FM), except they announced it as being 'somewhere' on Flinders Lane and that they apparently weren't allowed to mention the real location.
Anwyay, that would explain the huge crouds sad I didn't bother trying once I heard what the crowd was like.

At least we've got tonight to go see him... can't wait biggrin

Judging by media reports, (useful for once!), Prince did not even sing, so it was a colossal waste of time, and media hype. The Wednesday concert, at Rod Laver Arena, was amazing, because the arena was designed for acoustics, and is the best major concert venue in Australia, if not the world. Prince had also loosened up, and perfected the sound, by all accounts, from the first nite, it was thrilling, amazing, sensational, you had to be there...

no prince didnt sing at bennetts lane.. but how does that make it a waste of time?
We were there to watch him play music.. didnt matter if he didnt sing, he was going to be doing enough singing over the next week.

Just ain't that keen on jazz...
It's like people who take gourmet food and wine, and fashion seriously...
Bennett's Lane is a boring as hell jazz venue, full of middle-aged bores...
it's like get a life...
cos life is 2 serious to take seriously...
but the melb concert 22/10 was the bomb, like parliament...
u can see my other posts, if u please...

yeh.. but prince only played one jazz song.
the rest were his songs, or bigass funk jams.

and plus.. it wasnt full of middle aged people.. it was full of prince fanatics or all ages.

im not huge on jazz either, i like the stuff but not a huge fan.. but i didnt care.. if its Prince playing it, then im there.
