Basement show set list - who can fill the gaps? Forgive me if this is in another thread - I had a look and couldn't see it. The show was great, crazy - everything you suspect an aftershow to be like before you finally end up at one.
Part1 (2am - 2.45am) James Brown style funk jam (Prince picked up on a riff from one of the tracks the DJ had been playing before he started) Brick House Skin Tight 777 9311 (with some 'ring my bell' refrain) Purple rain 15 min intermission Part2 (3am - 3.45ish) Maceo led jam ("sing all you got" seemed to be the refrain) Another jam (can't remember) Pass the Peas No Diggity Rad song Larry Graham entrance -> some jam (can't remember) Alphabet Street (a great end). Will never forget the experience - still a bit shellshocked by it all. Other things that I remember: Prince wore a very cool bright blue suit. The song Rad sung was excellent, very funky - even Prince's main security guy was bobbing along to the groove. The last 15 minutes were some of the thickest funk I've ever heard him cook up. And Maceo was just great fun... he was cueing off the band like Prince does. Lets just hope it isn't another 11 years till he comes back. Oh yeah, the second jam in the second set featured "We Want the Funk" and the RAD song was Ohh (by Mary Blige). When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

u lucky lucky b'stards!!! and here I am in NZ - just got home from the long flight and drive back down south (and yes the fishing IS better) 2 read this when only 2 nights ago I was there xperiencing it all (xcept just an afterparty - no show ...a shame I got the first show - not!!! even without an aftershow I am still buzzing...P and the band (as it is currently - and personally I don't mind not seeing larry -sorry LG fans) r absofuckinglutely amazing...and just 2 have witnessed the show - let alone the soundcheck was worth it...I am jealous of not seeing an aftershow but hey, "life on, shows over!" all I can say what a wonderful couple of days and 2 meet so many friendly aussie fans made it that much better! getting 1 of john blackwells drumsticks and then have him sign it is gonna b a great story 2 tell my 22 month old daughter when she is older- but I'll b having it framed and mounted with the poster I bought before she gets near it
Once again in the words of some1 else - not only Prince - but prince fan/ms ROCK!!! Hopefully this will b a wake up call 4 the americans and europeans that get 2 see prince every few years 2 make the most of what they have so close 2 them - and Prince - if u feel neglected up there - u r always welcome downunder - ...cos the fishing is ALWAYS good PS great 2 hear Mani was at the aftershow - I wish I could have seen her! And 2 the beautiful women (elizabeth?) we were chatting 2 at the soundcheck - who spent some time with Prince last time he was in sydney - I hope u got a chance 2 meet him again...and if not I trust u had a great time with all us prince mad fools anyway

Maceo led jam ("sing all you got" seemed to be the refrain)
Could this have been "Shake everything you got"?

Could this have been "Shake everything you got"? That was it! When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

One question - what was security like ?
Would it have been possible to get a DAT recorder in there without any problem ?? Body searches - metal detectors ? anything ? Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!
