Melb 2nd show --> subtitled "Moscow Circus Has Just Moved Into my Trousers" I swear to god that the tent in my trousers has now got so big after last nights shows that there are now dancing bears and elephants performing down there.
The second night was even BETTER than the first. The band just hit it perfectly and Prince was ON. He was in a super mood and fooled around all night. Seriously, the performance was sublime. Incredible. Even stuff like the sound was way better and not as boomy as the night before. But first things first, lets start with the Soundcheck. It actually started almost on time. We walked in and he was playing Superstition on keyboards that were set up front and centre on the stage. I grabbed a spot front row, right in front of him almost. His was singing different lyrics to Superstition (not Stevies lyrics) but I didnt recognise them. After that he told the audience that he couldnt play as long today because he had to do an interview (Richard Wilkins --> ). Anyways, after that he played a really long funk jam which incorporated a number of funk chants i.e "Skake your money maker" and "We Want the Funk" which the crowd really got into. Lastly, he played Joy in Repitition in all its glory. He played the full version with no altered lyrics and it kicked the arse of the It Aint Over version. Seriously, Joy in Rep was so fucking awesome I'm expecting quadruplets and I've had to get the builders to add another wing on my house . It was SCARY good and his guitar play again was awe inspiring. Maceo did a brilliant solo too. Fair dinkum, when all these little Prince babies i'm carrying are born I'm going to name them Prince, Skipper, TAFKAP (this kids in trouble), and Squigle , even if they're girls! Setlist: Superstition Long Ass Funk Jam Joy in Repitition. It went for about 35-40 mins in total. Alrighty then, on to the big one. I know I raved about the first nights show and carried on like a crack whore when the Navy's in town but this second night was something else! He fucking NAILED it. Period. Wrapped it up and fucking posted it staight into folklore. He played 2 1/2 hours of glorious funk that will never be forgotten by those who witnessed it. The hospital wards at all the maternity wards in Melbourne will be bursting at the seams in 9 months time with little pimp walking, arseless nappy wearing, funky as all shit, little Prince babies. Here's the setlist: Let's Go Crazy I Would Die 4 U When Doves Cry Baby I'm A Star Shhh Dmsr I Feel 4 U Controversy The Beautiful Ones Nothing Compares 2 U Insatiable Sign O' The Times The ? Of U The One Let's Work U Got The Look Hot Pants/Life O' The Party Soul Man Kiss Take Me With U Everlasting Now 1st encore: Adore (full version alone at piano!) New Song (again alone at piano, contained chorus about "dont make me sleep on the couch") Forever in My Life (!!!) Alphabet Street (full band in now with P on keyboards) All the Critics Love U in Melbourne Days of Wild. 2nd encore: Purple Rain (best version I have ever heard by a mile and I have TONS of versions) Prince was in the best mood you could imagine and was clearly ecstatic all night. He made tons of jokes and had the crowd roaring with laughter. He is the pimp daddy of them all!! In the 1st set he extended both DMSR and Controversy and both were sensational. He was really feeling the fonk!! Good lawd. During the encore he did this hilarious routine where he was telling the crowd that they had to walk home like they had been "somewhere important". He then did this crazy dandy walk where he sought of had his chin up and his right hand up ny his chest as he did this exaggerated pimp swagger. He fucking out Morris Day'd Morris Day. He also did this crazy muscle man pose with a freaky look on his face. Hilarious!!! All in all, this concert blew the first night out of the water (and that was great!). This tour is a must see. DO NOT MISS IT!!! The old songs sound fresh and pacing of the concert is perfect as the tempo is brilliantly controlled. I will never forget this experience as long as I live. I seriously am not the fawning type, you can go back through every post I have ever put on the org (appart from yesterdays review) and you will see that. This show is that good that I feel giddy like a 16 year old virgin who stumbled into a lesbian love trist between Naomi Campbell and Halle Berry and was invited to join in. Balls are blown all over the place!! Of course there was the Aftershow too. I have placed my comments on that in Joshy's thread. It was another awesome experience. Pince and tha band are so tight and it went off. Setlist: Musicology (which rocked!) Brick House Peach (morphed into The Work later) Ohh (sung by RAD) No Diggity (sung by Chance with P joining in in parts and playing keyboards) When the Saints Come Marching In. Fucking A man!! It was the coolest. I'm hungry now, a mans got to eat now that I'm eating for five. Cheers spell check [This message was edited Wed Oct 22 22:24:06 PDT 2003 by bkw] [This message was edited Sun Oct 26 0:24:22 PDT 2003 by bkw] When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

Yaaay! BKW. You and the rest of the Aussies deserve such great performances! "That...magic, the start of something revolutionary-the Minneapolis Sound, we should cherish it and not punish prince for not being able to replicate it."-Dreamshaman32

Hey, awesome post bkw!!! Glad you guys down south rocked out hard.
Let's hope that the Moscow Circus arrives alive and well in Brisbane on Monday - I know that there are a lot of trousers up here waiting to accommodate it! I'm so excited ... hopefully it'll be just as good as the Melbourne shows... or even BETTER. Although by the sounds of your encore setlist, I can't imagine it'll get any better! I really hope that we get to hear Forever In My Life and Days Of Wild. That will mean quintuplets for me.
