Groove Terminator announced as opening act for Sydney shows

I did some research:

"Groove Terminator - the man better known to his friends and fans as GT - became one of the first top-flight Australian DJs to firmly establish himself as a recording artist in 2000 with his debut album, ‘Road Kill’. Orginally from Adelaide, GT is not only considered to be Australia’s top DJ, but he is also respected as a producer, performer, mixer and acknowledged as a premier remixer in this country with credits as varied as Savage Garden, Grinspoon, Groove Armada and Gorillaz.

In 2000, his release ‘Losing Ground’ resulted in 2 ARIA nominations for Best New Talent & Best Video. Another release followed - literally with the the massive radio hit ‘Here Comes Another One’. His third single ‘The Sunshine Song’ went onto immediate high rotations, charted top 20 nationally and was ARIA nominated for best dance release becoming a summertime smash and rocking the BDO. Not bad for a guy from Adelaide who's Mum used to take him to the odd concert here and there."

Sounds pretty cool... I remember this guy had a hit a few years back with the remix of the Hair classic "Let The Sunshine In". I think he was the support for Moby's 18 tour last year as well. Opening for Prince is certaintly an honour, although he's the hardest possible act to follow (or precede).

How will this work - Soundcheck, then DJ, then P again. Frustrating for the club members.

I don't think P needs an opening "act", although at least it's a DJ not a band or something.

Simple;

Soundcheck at 4pm...it will go for an hour max. Then you will leave the venue and return at 7.30ish (maybe except VIPs)...usually support act goes on at 7.30/8pm and goes for 30 min. Prince will probably come on at 9pm.

9pm!? What happens between 8 and 9? Prince being fashionably late?

Agree, but im thinking the worst here. WHAT IF he decides to pay Prince homage and throw in some really bad Prince remixes to show the fans how "with it" he is. Im gonna cringe if he does that!

He usually don't have Openingacts but as far of their quality...normally openingacts have to pay for bein the opener. So its probably the highest bidder who wins...or the one who needs the publicity the most...in both cases u arent guaranteed a quality performance...

from some1 who witnessed LOL

"We then went in2 the stadium again only to suffer the horrendus DJing from Groove Terminator. It was really, really terrible. I was very suprised at the performance as he is a reasonably big DJ here in OZ..... the after party was at the Prince Of Wales. We went down only to find - Groove Terminator - playing EXACTLY the same tracks in EXACTLY the same order as he did pre show!!!! After two hours of some of the WORST DJing i've ever come across we had to leave"

hahaha
sorry to you all who attended !
