"Prince will perform his hits for the last time," Dainty confirmed.
lol Yeah, right.

"Promoter Paul Dainty and US promotions giant Clear Channel will announce the tour today."
Didn't P denounce Clear Channel in his ONA tour?

This sounds fishy to me..

The ONA tour was sponsored by Clear Channel.

Nothing yet on the clearchannel.com, but what worries me most is that the word world tour is not used at NPGMC. They just rap about Hong Kong and Aussie. Good for them ofcourse, but still not a world tour...

At least it is a chance for new boots!
And a chance for Prince to get into the spotlight. Worldwide.

I think just the int'l portion of the tour had Clear Channel involvement, most likely because they run most of the venues and present a convenient marketing / booking agency for foreign countries that Prince's own organization simply can't manage.

As far as the U.S. portion of the tour, I believe it was mostly if not totally independently booked and promoted by Prince and NPGMC, which is not surprising since his organization would be more familiar with U.S. venues and have some long-standing relationships with radio station programmers who could assist in promotions.

I'll take your word for it.

I remember some initial involvement that created a similar "controversy" at the time.
