I just got back home from Maceo`s gig.
Needless to say he tore the roof off. Actually there wasn`t
a roof, but anyway.
Morris Hayes is now playing the organ in Maceo`s band.
I could not believe how good he played. He added a lot
with his special style. He was in a very good mood, very
happy. The rhythm section is fantastic, i guess they are
one the funkiest and tightest around. The togetherness(does that word exist? sorry)!!! No matter what they play, they are locked in.
I talked a little bit with Morris after the show.
I told him he seemed so happy and he said that enjoys the
freedom that he has with that band, and also the fact
that - compared to Prince`s band - the playing has a
more important role than the equipment. Anyway, he was very
very friendly. It was great to see him again. Like i said, his organ playing was fantastic.
Whenever you can, get yourself aa ticket and listen to this
band, okay?
