The line up is great, and I'm tempted, but I also had a lot of other things booked while I was in Minneapolis last year, which made the trip worth it. I got to see 90s grunge band L7 at First Avenue, and Donna Grantis and Liv Warfield at The Dakota. Also, Record Store Day fell on the Saturday during last year's celebration, so I got up early and went to Electric Fetus for some RSD shopping. My last night in town, I wound up at some Prince themed drag queen brunch, which was actually really fun.
I reckon by time I factor in the ticket, meal pass, airfare, hotel, transportation and the money I'd spend on shopping, I'd spent around $2,500. I can afford it, but that's also money that might be better spent elsewhere since I went last year, and the format is pretty much the same.
Well said. It is pricey, but I choose to go non VIP and save up for it by not doing Other things. I’m not rich or elite. I’ve met some great people so they are the reason I’m going back now. To be with people who love Prince and celebrate that. That’s all it really boils down to for me. And it is so fun to be around others who are equally enthralled as you about it all. Last year was great because of the Symposium that was at the same time. So far I haven’t left a celebration Dissapointed, it is fun and funny sometimes. I like that all the special guest are freely around Paisely park and so accessible. They eat in the dining hall with everyone else. On my shuttle bus back to the hotel last year Dez Dickerson hopped a ride and was sitting in front of me and chatting and casually talking. moments like this were plentiful. I got to talk to Mayte and Shelia E. And I wasn’t VIP nor am I an extrovert. They were just nearby. That all makes it fun and meaningful. The panels discussions I really enjoy. It is what the title implys “a celebration” people are there celebrating A man at this point, just celebrating in his house.

You have to work that out with the folks at Paisley Park, too. They require you to submit a photo for your laminate and your pass will have your name on it. (The name provided at time of purchase.) If you want to sell your pass, you need to notify PP first to work out arrangements to reassign it to another person. "I Was FINE Back in the Day!"

We met so many wonderful people and that is also part of the resone we go besides all the entainment is see and be with our Purple Family. Last year at Celebration 2018 we got married at the Riley Park underpass in front on Pasiley Park. It was such a beautiful day. Is the programme available anywhere? Or does anyone who's been before know what might happen on the Sunday?
Debating going from the UK, but I think I'd have to miss the Sunday as I can't really be away that long.
Thanks | |

Thanks On Sundays programming will be screening, panel discussion, meal, panel, performance. Just like the other 3 days. Just don’t know who will be performing. Lots of U.K. people attend, esp the 2017 one.

I've attended the last 2 years, each experience was different - the first year was certainly more intimate & the program was generally more focused & organized. I was so looking forward to going this year, but unfortunately due to medical issues I cannot attend. The guest list is smokin' too, gonna be hard to miss. On that note, if anyone is interested in going & needs tickets, I have 2 general admission tickets deposits available. Paisley has assured me they are transferable. Message me if interested. Seems to be a lack of interest this year. I think that GA tickets sold out within a couple of weeks for the first two celebrations. In the future, I think that Paisley will need to publish more details about the agenda to generate interest. People are not going to pay $550-1000 if 60% of the agenda is panelists and 10% of the agenda is new Prince video/music. We will all pay if 70% if the experience is exclusive Prince content. I understand that Paisley's hands are tied with the Estate, etc., but it is simple. Give the people what they want and we will give you our money and the Estate will make more money. It is easy: Screen previously unreleased full concert each night of the Celebration. He has tons of them available. [Edited 3/1/19 8:15am]

It is for people who can afford it and people who think it is worth it. It is for real fans. It is not for you.
