Thank you smile

I don't know why it's so bad recently, it's 2 years since he left us, I just watch his videos on youtube and burst into tears.

Levi is part of the NPG line-up but I think it depends on country \ venue.

Levi has been rehearsing with them but he's also been recording with them for their upcoming new album too

Not the lineup I was hoping for (no Michael B, Levi), but seeing Tony M is a thrill. Shoot me.

Well what can I say....what a gig!
.
I wasn't sure whether to see the NPG last night - as I thought I'd be listening to purple music and be pining for Prince to be on stage i.e. a frustrating experience. However, after listening to some of the boys from the Peach & Black Podcast, feeling the same way and going to see them in Australia, I thought I'd take the plunge with friends and partners in tow - and WOOF!! - my thoughts were totally misplaced....WHAT A FUNKY NIGHT!! Although the setlist was primarily "Diamonds and Pearls" (not a favourite of mine) the band were super tight and could turn on a dime. How daunting it must be to fill massive shoes on lead vocal mostly, but Mackenzie was a revelation! Vocally on-point and great front-man - a worthy choice - "Willing and Able" was simply brilliant. Beverley Knight turned up like a Tina Turner whirlwind and knocked it out the park. Maaan - she can belt out a tune - fantastic voice. Phew! "Deuce and a quarter" was one of the funkiest experiences I've had ever and Sonny T's solo? The craziest bass solo I've ever heard. "Sign of the Times" and "ICNTTPOYM" were other standouts.
.
All I know is that for nearly 2 hours they had the whole crowd dancing, singing and onboard. So, if you were like me and you have the opportunity to see the NPG and not sure whether to go - don't think twice - JFDI (Just Fucking Do It).
.
Big respect goes out to Morris Hayes who's in charge of the project. He was interviewed on Radio 6 the previous day, emphasising how it was all about the respect for Prince's music and musicianship. Well - he proved that...and some...last night.
.
Peace and be wild!

Nice review, it was a great gig for sure. I had my doubts but I am very glad I made the trip.

Obviously an emotional night. Prince's absence was felt deeply, but his work was celebrated respectfully, I feel.

I managed not to cry until Gold, which for some reason completely set me off!

Hearing Call The Law live after all these years was just wonderful.

I got to briefly speak to Mr Hayes afterwards and shook Tony M by the hand. (Yes. His mic-holding hand).

I don't think Prince would want us to be sad. I think he would want us to sing and dance and PARTY. And we certainly did last night.

Eye like pretty things, and u're just as pretty as u can b...

Great reviews guys. I unexpectedly got Thursady off work and dithered about trying to decide whether to make the four hour trip or not. Bottom line, I didn't (work on Friday and I'm getting too old to be surviving on a couple of hours sleep) but I wish I had now.
