Five years ago, Prince played maybe the best concert in the last five years of his life: his second of three nights at the United Center in Chicago.

The first night got relentlessly slaughtered in the press due to sound issues and a seemingly unfocused, lacklustre performance from Prince himself. With that in mind, Prince played like a man on a mission at this show.

I was listening to it on the way to work on the morning and it's so apparent even with just the audio that P was 'on' this evening. His guitar work was on fire and his singing was fantastic. His charisma just radiates. Some of the best moments:

- Shhh! is maybe my favorite version. The guitar work is sizzling. Crazy thinking he'd retire the song not long after (I think he only did it two more times, one of them being SXSW)

- Sometimes It Snows in April is haunting, as per usual. Very dramatic and invested rendition.

- Dreamer just smokes, this is maybe my favorite version. I love the 'CBS / see bs' line he adds at the end.

- I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man gets probably its best performance in this arrangement. It's focused and moving.

- Nothing Compares 2 U with Hudson is beautiful. She adds a lot to the song and isn't just another guest.

- Little Red Corvette has some excellent guitar work.

- The closing Act of God medley just brings everything home perfectly.

Oh how I wish this show would get an official release. Night 3 was great too, but it was more a party show than the intense showcase this evening was.
