new power generation celebrating prince
is this gonna be any good ? some of you have seen this already ?
they will be playing in belgium next week and I won some tickets in a radio contest but I'm not sure if I will go or not.
it's like the jacksons without michael
hope some of you can convince me to go or not to the npg. thanks. |

They are professional experts in their craft, with a deep love for the music, and unmatched experience with the material. It should be a great show. I enjoyed the shows I attended here in the states. Same for if the Revolution makes it your way. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

I think it would be awesome to see them. Cause they have Tony M, Tommy Barberella, Damon D, Levi, Sonny T mixed with Shelby J, Morris Hayes, and others from various NPG eras throught Prince's career beginning with the Original NPG members. I saw a clip last night that looks like they have Kirk on drums instead of Michael Bland. I will also have a loyal heart for the 1990-1993 era of NPG but I think having them plus post 1993 era members of NPG all in one band would be an interesting combination because you are talking about them having over 20 yrs of music to pull from. Where as The Revolution don't have as big of an expansive period to work with. | |

Okay thanks. Andre cimone is reported to be one of the singers too. :) No disrespect for the npg band members. They were great I know but always with prince in front. Don't know what to expect with a different lead singer. And if shelby is coming too no thank you  but I don't see her name on the poster. |

You're correct. Not having Prince there can be very unsettling, you're not going to find somebody to fill those shoes. The way I took it, the audience was coming together with the band to celebrate Prince. To grieve through the music. To embrace that he's gone but we are keeping the art alive. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Peeps this will be a great time shared with talented musicians what a gift!!!!.Music is one of the many circles of life...I say go for it!!please check back in and let us know what a wonderful time you had because you will...Ive seen them with and without Prince!!!!have a funky time. Maybe I can offer some partial insights? At the Minneapolis tribute in October, Andre was a great anchor for both guitar and voice, grounded the show, provided energy and continuity, popping in and out to lead songs when some performers dropped out. (Phfft, who needed them anyway?) At the Muse after parties he blew the roof off the place. *damn!* Saw Shelby in NYC in January. Beautiful, soulful voice. (Also a character--try to meet her, she's a riot.) Saw the Revolution in nyc in April (hang on, hear me out): Yes, there is a Prince-shaped hole in the room. But there is also dancing and singing and tangible, almost overwhelming, joy. That's what I've found at every tribute event so far. I never understood before how you "celebrate" someone who's gone, but I guess I understand now. Go--it's an amazing experience. I hope NPG makes it to New England (X)!! And the MUSIC continues...forever... | |
