I wonder at which stage people stop using the word Tribute and just do their thing, or better yet...His thing. TRUE BLUE

Well if they were just playing their own music it wouldn't be called a tribute. If they're playing Prince's music, by definition, it is a tribute concert.
Can't wait for this show !!

I'm still upset that none of y'all bought tickets to see them in Redondo Beach! I'm certain under selling was the reason they cancelled that show. Lucky folks in Minnie. "JUST TRY TO HAVE FUN, NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO" ♫"Trollin, Trolling! We could have fun just trollin'!"♫

I heard Fine Line is a hit or miss experience. Any vets willing to share their thoughts? I'd be driving from MI just for one show, and am not interested in dealing with a venue being the problem. Also, the venue says 21+, but not enforced if it's a parent and older children. Anybody have experience with that? -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

This is from the Fine Line website:
CAN I ATTEND AN EVENT THAT IS LISTED AS 18+/21+ IF I’M UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE? Underage persons can only attend if they are accompanied by their own parent or legal guardian only. In addition, proof of guardianship (birth certificate AND government picture IDs for the minor and parent) and a ticket for all persons ages 2 and older must be provided for entry. The legal guardian must provide the minor with adequate ear protection and will not be allowed to consume alcohol on the premise – no exceptions, sorry. All conditions must be met in order for the minor and parent to gain entry into the Fine Line.
As far as the venue. Definitley not my favorite. If you get a good spot for the show it is OK, but sightlines are not super great. I'm looking forward to this show but wish it were somewhere else. (saw it last year at the Parkway, kind of wish it were there again as that was kind of funky!) Capacity at Fine line is about 750, about half of what First Ave holds.

I "tried" to see this show on Thursday night. It said Doors at 7 so I thought the show might start around 7:45 or 8. But I finally left at 9:15 because didn't want to wait around all night with no sign of the show ever starting. I'm curious what time they ever got onstage.

What an incredible timeline I live in to be able to see this extended core of the NPG workout on all these songs. The professionalism and mastery of their craft is a joy. So bittersweet for the above reasons. Michael is hitting as hard as ever, with timing that creates emotion, not just rhythm. Sonny is working out, and the Hornhedz are tight and on point. Julius and his sister are doing an EXCELLENT job with the vocals and presence. Hearing Sonny work out on Uptown was a treat, as well as I Wanna Be Your Lover that went longer in the outro. So far, so pleased. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Had a great time last night. There were four songs in the setlists Dauphin posted that were not played (Kiss, Damn U, Diamonds and Pearls and 7) and off the top of my head I can think of just one played not listed there (The Question of U) but there may have been one or two others added. And the set order was totally different. Loved all the different vocalist. Last night second set started with Dave Pirner singing the Cross followed by Sonny T singing Get Wild, then Jamecia Bennett singing Nasty Girl and Julius singing Darling Nikki and on and on.. Hornheads were great. Towards the end Sonny thanked everybody for coming and mentioned that the last time he saw Prince was at Bunker's about two weeks before he died and the last thing he told Prince was that he loved him so that was cool. Everybody on stage knew the songs in detail, including the little Prince-isms. I was really digging the Nothing Compares they did on vocals, and LRC, Computer Blue, and Let's Go Crazy stayed very close to album/concert guitar solo. The version of 1999 with the horns was outstanding as well. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
