I wuz thar in Htown. It was great to see them laughing and joking in that way Prince often did in concert. I liked Lisa baing funny with the granny glasses at the bows after the show.
And I've never seens an entire audience get broke down like what happened during "Sometimes it Snows in April".
I'm very happy to have seen all these guys up close and playing these songs.
But... that singer... I was told he was from New Edition? [Edited 6/16/17 21:02pm] My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

My wife and I saw the San Antonio show last night. It was 98 degrees and humid waiting for the doors to open at 7 pm. Welcome to south Texas!
The show was GREAT. We stood 3 feet from the stage the entire night. Wendy sat on the edge of the stage arm's length away from us for some awesome guitar work during Controversy / Mutiny. I disagree with those not thrilled with Stokely's guest vocals. He was great, confident but also a bit humble. They had him out on songs none of the band could sing anyway (Let's Work). He led the party during the encore (I Would Die 4 U and Baby I'm a Star") but didn't purposefully upstage the band at all. We bought meet and greet passes after the show. These guys are so approachable and appreciative, especially Wendy and Bobby Z. We got all of their autographs and photos with the band. They made a point numerous times of saying they just want the music to be heard and for it to live on. This is not a cash grab or an opportunity tour. It's a true reunion to honor a fallen leader. Wendy in particular spent a ton of time with younger fans (meaning peeps younger than us!) and asked as many questions of us as we did of her. She wanted to engage people and initiated hugs herself. My wife and I each got more than one. Support these guys if you can. They played their hearts out and really focused on the work they did together with Prince. And seeing Wendy and Lisa play SISIA alone on stage is really touching. They loved Prince and continue to. Soak it in while you can. Thanks, Doozer, I really enjoyed your post and pictures from SA. I saw them in Madison WI. Loved seeing them play.

Couldn't of said it better myself, Doozer. The SA show and time at the meet and greet were special indeed. Their sincererity was evident in every song they played and reiterated afterwards in the conversations post gig. "be glad that you are free, many a man is not"

I saw them in Austin on Saturday, April 17th.
WOW - what a complete surprise. I went in with lower expectiations based on clips I saw from the most recent 1st ave show. But I went last night and I found out that: The Revolution are as good as ever, and they are 1000% viable as a band in 2017 and beyond. We all wish Prince was still here on earth. But he's not, and I guarantee you, the energy & love happening on this Revolution tour are causing him to smile in heaven. . The set list is extraordinary in sequencing & pace. . The best surprise in a night of surprises: Brown Mark playing flawlessly and hitting all the old dance steps. My appreciation for Prince & co's live stage choreograpyhy has been growing steadily, and after seeing Brown Mark live on stage bust all his moves while playing, just a few dozen feet from me (I had balcony seats and could see every step) -- I understand in a visceral way how much it brings to the performance. . The train started with Computer Blue -- complete with a snipped of "Poor computer, it's time someone programmed you" towards the end. Then the whole thing took flight for the heavens with Mountains. And then it kept on from strength to strength for another 1h 45m. Every Prince fan should see & hear Wendy & Lisa perform Sometimes It Snows In April. . Musically, The Revolution has often functioned as a funk engine chugging along behind Prince. Now that they're all older, you can absolutely hear the mature musicians' timing in their playing -- they are more in the pocket now than ever. Wendy's swung rhythm guitar against the straight angular drum patterns is more pronounced than ever, producing an absolutely unique, purple funk that's even better than their 80s-era performance to my ears. Wendy was an absolute beast on rhythm guitar last night. . I wept a few different times -- Mountains for the sheer joy, SISIA for sublime moments & rememberance of Tracy/PRN, Purple Rain for cleansing. It was a wake & a celebration. . I sincerely hope The Revolution continue doing this as long as they can -- and next time, bring Sheila E, St. Paul, Susannah, Eric, Jellybean et. al. along for a Sheila / fDeluxe / Revolution combo bill. Here is an AWESOME story. There must be something in the water in San Antonio, because that's where my daughter sang with Prince the first time when she was 8. Watch the video in the link, it has great stuff with the young girl with Wendy and Lisa:

Great show, but Mountains alone made the whole night worth it (with DMSR coming in a close 2nd).

Finally getting back to the Org -- I really enjoyed the show in Dallas! Wendy seemed to be angry at her guitar all night, not sure what the issue was cause it sounded fine for the most part.
I hope to see them tour again, and would love to get some more Parade material. Regardless, glad I got to see them at least once!

When the band sang SISIA with our help the quiet sincerity of the crowd's voice brought many men and women to tears.

Here's a review from the concert I attended.Concert Review: The Revolution Celebrates Prince’s Legacy at ACL Live
Concert Review: The Revolution Celebrates Prince’s Legacy at ACL Live: reunited group pay tribute to their founder at Austin performance. ★★★★★
“Shall we begin? Yes Lisa.” Those infamous spoken word lyrics to Prince and The Revolution’s Computer Blue kicked off The Revolution’s set this weekend at Austin’s ACL Live.
Here's a review from the concert I attended.
Prince’s legendary backing band have reunited and taken to the road in tribute to their late founder, and it was a moving and celebratory dance party for all that attended. . The band, featuring original members Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, Bobby Z, Brown Mark and Matt Fink wowed the crowd with a deep dish of His Purple Majesty’s classic hits and deep cuts. In many ways the show seemed like a daring experiment: how does one put on a Prince show without Prince? The answer could have been opportunistic or deeply misguided, but in the hands of such dynamic musicians we never should have worried–his spirit was felt and honored throughout the entire scorching set. The handling of vocal duties shifted throughout the night–Melvoin and Mark often traded vocals on tracks like Mountains, Raspberry Beret and America, in-between shredding on guitar and bass (respectively), while guest vocalist Stokely Williams (Mint Condition) lent his smooth falsetto on high-energy hits including Let’s Go Crazy, When Doves Cry and I Would Die 4 U. Melvoin weaved storytelling throughout the show, telling the audience they could visit Prince’s Paisley Park studio complex through his music if they couldn’t make the trek–before launching into the candy-colored psychedelic number of the same name. . She also encouraged the audience to help her sing a beautiful and soulful rendition ofSometimes It Snows In April. It was an emotional moment, and for good reason. Not only does that song m...e on death, but it references the very month he passed away. . Many in the crowd were openly moved–and it was the lone moment when they stopped dancing, lending the solemnity required to a track that ended with Melvoin crooning: all good things, they say, never last/And love, it isn’t love until it’s past. . Everyone in the group had their moment to shine–Melvoin’s incendiary guitar chops were on full display, while Coleman and Fink (wearing his patented surgeon scrubs) weaved funky sonic textures with their syncopated synths. And Mark was a man in constant motion, slapping his bass with as much effort as his fancy footwork. And throughout it all Bobby Z’s provided the group’s kinetic, pulsing heartbeat. . Elsewhere the group referenced the turbulent times of the day (with synapse-frying precision on America, 1999 and Controversy). The set was appropriately Purple Rain centric, including the slinky Let’s Go Crazy B-side Erotic City and a chill-inducing take on the soundtrack’s title track, which had the crowd doing their best to match Prince’s euphoric falsetto crescendo. . The band covered pretty much every vintage Prince hit they were associated with, with the curious exception of Little Red Corvette, and controversial gem Darling Nikki, but that’s nitpicking. The crowd was enraptured and smiling throughout–it was one of the most genial audiences I’ve ever been a part of. . The Revolution’s performance served as a joyous party, poetic tribute and moving musical eulogy to the man who was their creative nucleus. While his presence is irreplaceable, they did more than do him justice, while shining a light on how their inventive musicianship helped fuel his genius and bring their collaborative vision to life. . [Edited 6/26/17 8:12am] . YUP. What this said. Sidenote good in san antonio but ACL WAS OFF THE HOOK...AND Dance party to follow. 😎 . Little Red Corvette. NOT omitting it like an oops we forgot that one. There MUST have been discussion to play or not to play. There is a reason why they arent playing it. So i dont have to search my Brain DB for possibilities? Someone here just knows i have no doubt. I am feeling just like Windows 95 this week. Starrfighter

I'm still tripping off of the show but the thing that I enjoyed the most was that, unlike hardly any shows that I see these days, all of the songs were played full length- not medley arrangements. As a hardcore fan, that made the experience all the more enjoyable considering that they could've gotten away with a "1st verse/chrous only" setlist and still have a strong 45 minute show.
