Personally, this is the band that most people remember Prince 4. His best albums were done with and more importantly, By this band. Purple Rain was , in the most part , recorded live with these people. I find it difficult to understand why Prince didn't record many of his albums as a band. Just because he was a great all round musician and player, he didn't need to record everything himself. Sometimes a group effort gives you something more !

I agree, other band members bring new ideas and ways of doing things.

Prince became a star with the Revolution, he didn't start as the big star, they came through together, growing and improving together, the later NPG bands were employed by Prince after he was a star, they were employee's rather than members of Prince's band, I spoke to NPG members in 1991 and that's how they described the relationship, the NPG were in awe of him.

If I lived in the States I would defo go to a show. Wish they would do some UK shows but maybe the cost of transporting them and their equipment means it is not viable.

I'm going from the UK to the NY BB King show on 28th April, going for a long weekend in NY, unfortuantely my friend can't make it, I bought 2 tickets as I had to buy straight away on the pre-sale, so didn't have time to check, it sold out immediately.

I don't know why people are misunderstanding Bobby's comment about the Revolution being "the last band that Prince was IN." The operative word is "IN." What Bobby meant is what you just stated--Prince was IN or a member of the Revolution as well as it's heart rather than simply having the Employer to employee relationship that he did with later band configurations. There was a more collaborative relationship with the Revolution than with later bands. That was Bobby's point.

I think these are the type comments that make some say that the Revolution thinks they are somehow above the New Power Generation.

I think it's more about the way in which Prince was a bandleader. I think later bands were more employees than the Revolution were.

Also NPG - was just different.

Thanks for the heads up on this! Their site said they didn't go on sale until 10am on Friday. I looked on Ticketmaster and it took me to another page and I was able to get the tickets early too.

Happy to help!

It turns out, I have an extra ticket. So if you know anyone who wants a regular ticket (not Gold Circle), please let me know.

Does anyone know the difference between the $70 and the $170 tickets?
They both say general admission

Didn't sleep too well last night...kept going over whether I should get tickets or not. Would I be disappointed if I didn't go? Would I be disappointed if I did go? Who would go with me? How come I couldn't figure out how to do pre-sale tickets? Will they sell out quickly? Could I get reserved seating or would I have to stand the whole concert?....on and on....

Finally decided not to worry about it, it'd be okay if I didn't go and I finally got some sleep.

This morning, an hour after sales started, decided to check and see what the status on tickets was. Looked like I could get reasaonably priced tickets and reserved seating so I took em!

Looking forward to it now!

I miss you my friend --jj, me, and many others

Not an aftermarket vendor. Bought them directly from House of Blues.

I fortunately got 2 for Cleveland House of Blues! At first, I attempted to get reserved balcony seating but they sold out immediately. I sincerely look forward to seeing a band I greatly admired(and had dreams where I was a member of as a teen).Although,I think it's going to be emotional but hopefully cathartic.I truthfully need that and then an eventual trip 2 Paisley Park.
