Another question that entered my mind just now (especially to all nay-sayers who state that The Revolution should not continue or Wendy shouldn't touch Prince's guitar--even a replica): how does one keep music as vital as Prince's ALIVE? Just by playing his albums? No! By playing his music LIVE in hot steamy clubs and doing JUSTICE to it! Especially by his original band members like these concerts at First Avenue. Even when I listened to Prince before he passed, my favorite listening experiences were from his live concerts. He DESERVES to have his music performed LIVE from now on... From people who care and will do justice to his LIVE LEGACY. The last time I saw Prince live was in a small hot and sweaty club. One of the best experiences of my life. May that tradition continue. My end rant of the night. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

Okay, WHAT were those two songs Questlove played right around 9:00 PM? One sounded very much like an 87-88 outtake, with references to various danes like the Kangaroo and the Detroit Crawl, like in The Line. The only lyric I remember was "turn those houselights up." It was immediately followed by a guitar-heavy funk track that sounded like it was from the mid-90s. Those were AMAZING.

I asked before but didn't see an answer. There are three t-shirts at $30, a zip up at $45, a poster at $40, and a signed poster at $100. This was for the Revolution specific merchandise. There is also some first Ave available. It looked like some band members were signing merchandise? Also, I swear I saw Ron Wood. Didn't introduce myself though so not sure. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

I'm so glad I went even tho I just got home and have to be back in St Paul by 10 AM for a family wedding thing. I swear I saw Manuela too btw but I'm not sure? She was sitting right by the door to the room backstage where the band members went before and during the show. It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. Set list: (I'm going to need some help from others there tonight) Let's Go Crazy Computer Blue America Mountains Do It All Night Let's Work Uptown Party Up Little Red Corvette 1999 Sometimes It Snows In April Raspberry Beret The Beautiful Ones (Bilal nailed it imo - a highlight of the night for me - he got one of the biggest rounds of applause from the crowd) Private Joy When Doves Cry Controversy Kiss Baby I'm A Star ( by Maya Rudolph) Purple Rain Brownmark looks like he hasn't aged. And he was having a good time it seemed. Another highlight was Andre and Dez. Andre looks great and sounds even better. (No wonder P didn't keep him around cuz he there would have been some competition for the ladies' attention lol) I didn't see Mayte. Appolonia was there along with Brenda. I met Maurice outside when he shook my hand and introduced himself to several of us standing in line. Omar came out and took a quick bow at the end. By the end my feet were killing me and I was dehydrated from sweating. It was hot in there! Can't wait to hear about the dance party afterwards. We bought a couple t-shirts too It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

I found that link after Andre posted on his facebook if everyone has tickets! i said noooo I"m sitting here in Nashville in my home. Can you or one of the guys PLEEEAASSSEE Facebook Live it for us? Next thing I know that link I posted last night showed up in my feed and it was front row spot near Dez's side of the stage! Better my comment about being in Nashville got some dialouge going between myself and one of Andre's facebook friends who lives about 15 miles from me! It was so cool to watch that live...

So I have a VIP ticket to tonight's show, but my buddy going with me has a general admission. Since boht tickets are under my name at will call, getting us both in is going to be a huge headache since I'll have to go back up to the front door when he comes in with the regular crowd.
I'm wondering if going to the VIP is even worth it; I haven't really seen much talk about what actually goes on during that extra hour. Is it just the food upstairs and the advantage of getting in an hour early to stake out a good spot, or is there more? Have band members been around during that time?

This is really interesting, I remember Questlove tweeting some time after Prince's death that he had heard Wally so maybe he's been allowed access to some other stuff from the vault. And if he's playing stuff that we haven't heard before in bootlegs in a DJ set I guess that potentially bodes well for official releases of unheard material. Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

Going tonight as general. If I were u, I'd have your friend go in at the VIP time to stake out a spot (tell them where you want to be) and then you can go in at General. it gets pretty packed up front very quickly; and last night I witnessed a couple of not so nice interactions re: I was in this spot first issues. Enjoy the show tonight!

I think I heard Brenda give a shout out 2 Roy, wonder if he was doing the lighting again. Made me also wonder if any other of the old crew were involved. Like a lot of us have mentioned the first night was going to heavily them releasing the sorrow. And that was respectful. To pretend they weren't would have been disingenuous. Brenda & Apollonia there this night.

The Vault, non-single album tracks and less well known material will keep Prince "vital" in popular and art music culture.

So someone tweeted some of Questlove's set from last nite & a song called "LIFE" was played. It sounded like it was from the 87-88 period. Anyone have any info about this track?

I've only ever heard it as the latter, here's the Princevault page: http://www.princevault.co...ional_Pump
There's a recording of some of Questlove's DJ set out there, including at least a portion of Emotional Pump, just had a listen, even with mediocre quality and hearing it through my shitty phone speaker (I've been having trouble with my ears lately so can't listen on headphones) this is a pretty fucking exciting occasion!
